Fernley, Nevada – June 30, 2013…The Reno Tahoe Fernley Speedway will welcome a hot and hectic points battle when the King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series invades the high-banked oval this coming Friday & Saturday July 5 & 6 for the inaugural “Cherry Bomb Classic.”

Following last Saturday’s event in Placerville just 24-markers now separate the top-three in the KWS standings entering rounds 10 & 11 at the high-banked RTF Speedway in Fernley, Nevada. It will be the second outing of the season at the high-speed three-eighths mile oval, as the series also competed there on May 17 & 18. Victories that weekend were picked off by Rico Abreu and Jonathan Allard. The win for Abreu came in thrilling fashion as he made a final corner pass of Kyle Hirst on the high-side to thrill the crowd in attendance.

Second generation driver Kyle Hirst sits atop the King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series standings going into the double-header weekend on July 5 & 6. The 25-year-old is in his first full-time year driving for famed car owners Dennis & Teresa Roth and is looking to bring home his first career KWS title in the HR Livestock Transportation No. 83jr machine. Hot on his heels however, is three-time & defending champion Jonathan Allard, who has closed to within nine-points of the lead while driving for Morrie & Katie Williams in the familiar No. 0 Sprint Car.

Allard in fact has been the hottest Winged 410 Sprint Car driver in the area during recent weeks, having won his last three starts, including the $20,000-to-win “Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup” in Washington on June 22. The Chico, California native will be looking to continue his hot streak as he heads back to the site of his first KWS win of the season in May. Sitting just 15-digits back of Allard for second is Sacramento’s Willie Croft, who has had a very consistent start to the year driving for well known car owners Clyde & Marion Lamar. The man known as “Double Down” has tallied two wins and six top-five’s in the first nine KWS races in 2013.

Another close battle to watch for at the Reno Tahoe Fernley Speedway will surely be the fight for sixth, which sees National Sprint Car Hall of Famer Brent Kaeding, former Golden State/ King of the West 410 champion Jason Statler and Sydney, Australia native Peter Murphy separated by just 15-points. Kaeding is coming off his best run of the season in Placerville where he finished third in the main event and looked very strong late in the race. Statler in May at Fernley brought home a pair of sixth place efforts and Murphy scored a fifth place finish at the track during the final night in May.

The coming weekend is sure to be pivotal in the point’s race and we invite everyone to come and spend your Independence Day weekend with us in Fernley. Don’t forget that there is no sound rule at Reno Tahoe Fernley Speedway so it’s your only chance to hear the King of the West 410 Sprint Cars uncorked with open headers! The main event each night will also pay $3500-to-win and $1000-to-start!
