Danny Dietrich Earns Podium Finish during Williams Grove Opener

GETTYSBURG, Pa., (March 21, 2016) – Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa., opened its doors for the first time in 2016 on Friday night, March 18, welcoming a full field of Central Pennsylvania’s finest 410 sprint car competitors. Danny Dietrich, pilot of the Gary Kauffman Racing, Sandoe’s Fruit Market, Hickory Run Orchards, Weikert’s Livestock, Carlisle Auto Salvage, CATS Used Truck Parts, No.48, joined the field on Friday evening in search of a second consecutive opening night victory at the world famous half-mile. Unfortunately, Dietrich’s quest to go back-to-back during the historic program fell short by two positions; finishing third officially during the 25-lap lidlifter. The Gettysburg, Pa., native opened the evening with a third place finish during heat race action.
“We were right there on Friday night” Danny Dietrich explained, “We’ve been working hard to get this new car where it needs to be and I think we are finally there. Our time to be up front will come eventually. We’ll keep working hard and keep trying to improve every weekend. I can’t thank my team and sponsors enough for their hard work and support. Getting that first win is always the toughest. I’m confident that it will come soon.”
Danny Dietrich’s recent weekend continued on Saturday evening, March 19, with a visit to the Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal. Engine trouble would get the best of the Gary Kauffman Racing entry at the “Speed Palace;” eventually scored 21st during the 25-lap main event.
“Port Royal Speedway hasn’t been very kind to us so far this year” Dietrich explained, “We’ll shake off the bad luck and start fresh during our next visit.”
The 2016 season will continue on Friday and Saturday, March 25-26, with another full weekend of competition in “Posse Country.” Danny Dietrich will make his return to the Williams Grove Speedway on Friday night, March 25, followed by a visit to the Lincoln Speedway for the Sprint Championship on Saturday, March 26. “Double-D” will hunt for a fourth consecutive top-ten finish in the Pigeon Hills on Saturday night, with his most recent Lincoln Speedway result equalling a fifth place performance on Saturday, March 12.
