JONESTOWN, Pa. (August 5, 2019) – After nearly a week of preparation, Brock Zearfoss made his return to the Sprint Car Capital of the World, this time taking part in the annual Capitani Classic on Sunday evening, August 4; an unofficial test session for the coveted Knoxville Nationals that kicks-off on Wednesday, August 7.
Facing off against a field equalling 77 entries on Sunday night at Knoxville Raceway, Brock Zearfoss displayed speed instantly, eventually qualifying for main event competition by finishing third during his respective heat race, all before lining up second on the feature grid. Unfortunately, Zearfoss would face a 23rd place finish, the result of a miscue while trying to squeeze around a fellow competitor.
“Despite the end-result, it was nearly a perfect night for our team. We spent almost a week getting things ready for the Nationals and the Capitani Classic. The Capi was a great opportunity for us to shake down our stuff and see what we were capable of doing,” Brock Zearfoss said, driver of the Moose’s LZ Bar & Grill/Heavy Equipment, Loaders & Parts Inc./BAPS Auto Paint & Supply/Meckley’s Limestone Products/Berkebile Oil Company/River City Wood Products/No. 70 sprint car. “I’m excited to get the Nationals started.”
With plans to visit Southern Iowa Speedway for the annual Front Row Challenge on Monday, August 5, still in the air, the only definite destination on Zearfoss’ upcoming agenda is the coveted Knoxville Nationals. A grand prize equalling $150,000 will be awarded on Saturday, August 10.
