KNOXVILLE, Iowa (March 25, 2024) – The Lone Star State has certainly been kind to Aaron Reutzel and Ridge & Sons Racing, topping their recent Hard Charge at Cotton Bowl Speedway in Paige, Texas, with a podium performance on Saturday, March 23, doing so at Kennedale Speedway Park in Kennedale, Texas. Reutzel, who calls Clute, Texas, home, started fifth in his podium run, securing third for the first time on lap 17 before creating a three-car battle for the lead.
Already up to second, Reutzel pressured hard with two to go, actually driving to the back bumper of Carson Macedo – the main event’s eventual winner – as the pair raced under the white flag. As the Texan navigated turn one and two, David Gravel entered the picture and attempted to use the low line to drive under Reutzel. Gravel’s move incidentally forced Reutzel up the track, only to make slight contact with a slower lapped car. The momentum kick allowed Gravel to get by forcing Reutzel back to third; that is where he finished.
“We had a shot. We had a phenomenal car that came in really good at the end there when I found the top and Carson didn’t know it was there yet,” Reutzel, ace of Brian and Lisa Ridge’s Folkens Brothers Trucking, Don Long & STC, B And L Holdings, American Table, Commercial Edge, No. 87 sprint car, said. “It feels good to be in contention to win. It’s just a huge team effort.”
