ODESSA, Mo. (June 11, 2024) – Xavier Doney’s experience within the winged sprint car ranks may be limited – just 20 starts to date – but the progress is clear, most recently qualifying for High Limit Racing’s Rayce Rudeen Foundation Race finale at I-70 Speedway in Odessa, Missouri, on Saturday, June 8. The event, awarding the traditional $26,000 top prize, welcomed some of the best open wheelers in the country, all vying for not just the aforementioned five-figure payday, but the coveted RRF custom guitar.
Doney, ace of the Schnee-Lawson Chassis House Car, Doney-Lawson Racing, Motor Haven, No. 74 sprinter, was scored 21st in the weekend blockbuster, launching preliminary competition with the 19th-fastest qualifying time of 27 entries. A “home game” for the 18-year-old, the Odessa, Missouri, native raced on to finish eighth in his respective heat race; he started 22nd on the RRFR feature grid.
Unfortunately, younger sister Natalie Doney, pilot of the Schnee-Lawson Chassis House Car, Doney-Lawson Racing 305ci sprinter, was forced to sit out during the recent weekend, as Mother Nature stepped in and ruined any plans for Central Missouri Speedway.
“I want to thank everyone who came out to support Xavier at I-70 this weekend, as well as thank everyone for visiting us at the Schnee-Lawson Chassis Open House. Design Source Flooring provided the catering and it ended up being a tremendous turnout and we’re grateful for the support,” Dan Lawson expressed. “We have another busy weekend ahead for the Schnee-Lawson Chassis House Cars, but busy is good. Hopefully Mother Nature cooperates and allows for a full weekend of action.”
A busy weekend in the Midwest awaits each of the Schnee-Lawson Chassis house car competitors, as action is set to resume Friday and Saturday, June 14-15, with starts in Iowa and Missouri. Xavier will remove the wings for a POWRi WAR doubleheader at Crawford County and Shelby County, respectively, with Natalie anxiously awaiting a 305 sprint car appearance at Nevada Speedway in Nevada, Missouri.
SCHNEE-LAWSON CHASSIS HOUSE CAR UPCOMING SCHEDULE:
Xavier Doney will continue his 2024 campaign with a POWRi WAR doubleheader at Crawford County Speedway in Denison, Iowa, and Shelby County Speedway in Harlan, Iowa, on Friday and Saturday, June 14-15.
