Cory Haas in action at Lincoln Speedway – Rick Rarer
York, Pennsylvania’s Cory Haas has been on a recent hot streak at Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, Pennsylvania. The former ‘358’ Lincoln Speedway Track Champion currently sits 4th in the ‘410’ sprint car standings entering this weekend’s regular event; just 10 points shy of Brent Marks who holds down third. Haas has two wins at the Pigeon Hills facility in 2012; including an “Outlaw Tune-Up” win early last month. The Fully Injected teammate then scored a top five finish with “The Greatest Show on Dirt” on May 10th; finishing 4th with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series during their only appearance of 2012. This Saturday’s program will be a regular point night for the ‘410’ sprint cars at Lincoln Speedway, but the following Saturday, June 9th, the All-Star Circuit of Champions will be making an appearance in the Pigeon Hills bringing with them a $5,000 top prize and a boat load of talent.
Cory Haas, and the entire ’11C’ operation, will try to steal the $5,000 away from “America’s Series” in two weekends. ‘Home track advantage’ in Central Pennsylvania has always acted as a factory when traveling series’ make their way into the Keystone State. With recent time trial show success, and an impressive performance with the World of Outlaws already under Haas’ belt, there is not a doubt in anybody’s mind that the York native can find victory lane during the next two weekends.
This weekend’s event at Lincoln Speedway will act just as important as any event at the Abbottstown oval in 2012. Haas sits less than 260 markers behind point leader, Danny Dietrich, in the current ‘410’ standings. A solid evening on Saturday, June 2nd would not only set the tone for the upcoming All-Star event, but allow Haas to close the gap on Dietrich’s demanding point lead.
