Hermitage, PA (April 10th, 2013) – With the winter season officially over, and the signs of spring starting to assemble in Western Pennsylvania, it is safe to acknowledge that ‘racing season’ will soon be in full swing. Adam Kekich, a third generation driver from Hermitage, Pennsylvania, has been waiting patiently for the signs of spring; and is more than ready to kick off his 2013 short track campaign. Kekich, who pilots the Kekich Racing, Sunburst Environmental, Tight Seal Glass Block, Hermitage Agway, ‘5K’ sprint car, has plans to be an active ‘410’ competitor in Western Pennsylvania for the next few weekends; making appearances at the Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pennsylvania; and the Mercer Raceway Park in Mercer, Pennsylvania. The Kekich Racing ‘5K’ operation hopes to ignite their season schedule this Saturday and Sunday, April 13th & 14th, with season opening events at the Mercer Raceway Park and Lernerville Speedway. Technically, Mercer already activated their season on April 6th with the annual ‘Chiller Thriller;’ but this Saturday’s program with be the track’s first weekly division point race of the 2013 season.

“I’m just really anxious to get back behind the wheel” explained Adam Kekich, “We have been working really hard this offseason getting these cars ready…long nights and long hours in the race shop will hopefully pay off soon…I just have to thank everyone who has supported me in one way or another…and I need to especially thank my Dad for this opportunity…it’s going to be a fun year to say the least.”

Adam Kekich plans to kick off his 2013 season this Saturday evening, April 13th, at the Mercer Raceway Park in Mercer, Pennsylvania. The tight-cornered 3/8’s mile dirt oval will welcome it’s weekly divisions for the first time this season on Saturday evening; including the ‘410’ sprint cars. The April 13th ‘Saturday Night Live’ event will also be the first point night of the season for Mercer Raceway Park. Adam Kekich earned his first career ‘410’ sprint car victory at ‘MRP’ during the 2012 season; and would like to revisit their victory lane this Saturday evening. Check out more on this event at Mercer Raceway Park’s online home, www.mercerracewaypark.com.

After their short trip to Mercer Raceway Park on Saturday evening, the Kekich Racing ‘5K’ will load up and head southeast to the Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pennsylvania on Sunday afternoon, April 14th, for the ‘Steel City Stampede’ finale. The ‘Steel City Stampede’ finale was originally scheduled for late October of last year, but was postponed to early April due to inclement weather. Respective heat races for the ‘410’ sprint cars were completed last fall; with only the main event remaining on this Sunday’s schedule. Although Kekich has limited experience at the Sarver 4/10’s mile oval, the Hermitage, Pennsylvania native hopes to be a contender on Sunday afternoon, and learn as much as he can for future appearances. For more up-to-date information regarding the upcoming ‘Steel City Stampede’ finale at Lernerville Speedway, please visit www.lernerville.com.

“We will be racing a lot in Western Pennsylvania when not out on the road” said Kekich, “We want to race as much as we can, obviously, so we will be local quite a bit…our initial plans were to race with the All Stars in Ohio and Pennsylvania as much as we can; and that is still the case…we just need things to go our way so we can race even more out on the road.”

Adam Kekich has the notion to revisit Lernerville Speedway and Mercer Raceway Park next Friday and Saturday, April 19th & 20th, for ‘regular’ racing events. The pilot of the familiar ‘5K’ still plans to make appearances at select ‘Ohio Region’ UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions’ events, as well as at other local and regional ‘headliners.’ The UNOH All Stars will be making a Western Pennsylvania swing on Friday and Saturday, May 10th & 11th, at the Lernerville Speedway and Mercer Raceway Park. Adam Kekich plans to be in action for both of those events; leading the charge against the invading All Stars such as Dale Blaney and Tim Shaffer. “Regardless of where we have to go, I just want to race” said Kekich, “Racing is a passion and I want to lead this team to great things…we have been working so hard so hopefully it will pay off…I just can’t say ‘thank you’ enough to the people who are involved.”
