Steel City Stampede Flashback – Second go ‘round made Lernerville History

Sarver, PA (April 10, 2013) Building on the success of the Inaugural DIRTcar Round Up Steel City Stampede in 2009, the second running of the event in 2010 made Action Track history; the pits overflowed with over 220 cars in competition, forcing cars to pit in the infield for the very first time in the 40+ year history of Lernerville Speedway!  Highlighted by a door-to-door finish in the BRP Tour/Diehl Mods feature, the Second Annual Steel City Stampede wasn’t just about quantity; the quality of racing was fantastic!  Former Track Champion and multiple-time All Star Sprint Champion Dale Blaney blistered the Ti22 Sprint feature, while Jared Miley capped off his red hot end to the season with his third win in the final four races.  But the best races were contested in the Diehl Mods and Pic-A-Part Sportsman, but more about those scintillating finishes later in the week.

In the past few seasons, the huge Stampede car counts have resulted in two expansions of the pit area, but cars are still forced to pit in the infield.  The Steel City Stampede has become the perfect end to a racing season, featuring 10 divisions of racing over three nights with drivers come from all over Western and Central Pennsylvania, as well as New York, Ohio, Michigan and other states throughout the Midwest.  This year, however, the Steel City Stampede will kick off an action packed 2013 schedule with B-Mains and A-Mains followed by a 100-lap Enduro.  The Ti22/Peoples TWP Sprints, Precise Late Models and Diehl/BRP Modifieds will all be racing for $3,000-to-win and the Modified portion of the Stampede will be run under the prestigious banner of the “Kodiak Graham Memorial!”  The FASTRAK Northeast Late Models will duke it out with $2,000 on the line to the feature winner.  The UMP/UEMS Modifieds and Pic-A-Part Sportsman will race for $1,000-to-win and the 305 Sprints, 4-Cylinders and STARS Mod Lites will race for $500-to-win; all on Sunday, April 14 starting at 3:00PM.  Pit gates and tech inspection open at 11:00AM, the grandstands open at 1:00PM.
