Baker ends Speedweek campaign with pair of dash appearances, heat race victory

SHREVE, Ohio (June 25, 2018) – Trevor Baker’s 2018 Ohio Sprint Speedweek campaign was successful in his own way.
Showing promise as the week progressed, Baker ended the nine-day, All Star Circuit of Champions campaign with a pair of dash appearances, one of which the result of a heat race victory during the Rick Ferkel Classic/Speedweek finale at Atomic Speedway on June 23. Impressive enough, roughly 50 All Star entries packed the pit area for each Ohio Sprint Speedweek event. There were 47 on hand for the inaugural Rick Ferkel Classic.
The heat race victory at Atomic Speedway was a first-ever accomplishment for Baker against Tony Stewart’s All Stars.
“I’m proud of everyone. The beginning of the week didn’t go our way, but we slowly improved. That’s most important,” Trevor Baker said, driver of the T-Rev Performance/Baker’s Mobile Home Transport/Exodus Cycle/Coblentz Trucking/No. 45 sprint car. “Qualifying for the dash is a big deal, especially during these All Star races where it guarantees you a pretty good feature starting spot. Hopefully we can build on these high notes and keep progressing.”
Baker’s first dash appearance of Ohio Sprint Speedweek occurred during competition at Wayne County Speedway on Monday, June 18. Dash results put Baker on the outside of row four for the main event start; he would go on to be scored 26th after an on-track incident.
Up next on the schedule, Trevor Baker will make his return to Atomic Speedway on Saturday evening, June 30, and participate in the inaugural Dean Knittel Memorial worth $10,054. The non-sanctioned event will award a minimum of $554 to each A-main starter.
