CARLISLE, Pa. (July 18, 2022) – It was an up and down battle for CJB Motorsports and Spencer Bayston during their five-race swing through the Buckeye State, and although their goal of earning a Kings Royal crown for themselves was ultimately missed, the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Rookie of the Year contenders turned some heads, highlighting their week with a top-five run in the Knight Before the Kings Royal main event on Saturday afternoon, July 16.
Postponed from Friday to Saturday due to Mother Nature, Bayston, ace of the rueTimber, Signing Day Sports, Bubbly Brands, JRC Transportation, Nyce Crete and Landis, Ecynbro Trucking, C&S Lawn and Landscape, Kistler Engines, No. 5 sprint car, finished fourth in the $10,000-to-win program, advancing one spot after starting fifth on the grid. The Lebanon, Indiana, native would go on to qualify for the $175,000-to-win Kings Royal finale, finishing 16th after transferring through the Last Chance Showdown.
In addition, Bayston finished 15th in Eldora Speedway’s Jokers Wild lidlifter on Wednesday; he started 19th.
“I’m proud of this team. We had our ups and downs this weekend, but we persevered and earned a top-five along the way. Hats off to everyone involved. It’s not easy racing five days in a row like we did, but we kept our heads up and kept moving forward,” Bayston said. “We’ll regroup for a few days at our home shop in Pennsylvania and prepare to win one for CJB in their home state.”
ON DECK:
Spencer Bayston and CJB Motorsports will continue their 2022 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series campaign with another invasion of Pennsylvania Posse Country, first setting aim on a midweek visit to Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday, July 20. Action will continue with Williams Grove Speedway’s annual Summer Nationals on Friday and Saturday, July 22-23. The Summer Nationals finale will award a $20,000 payday.
Bayston is a former World of Outlaws winner at the Port Royal “Speed Palace,” doing so for a $15,000 payday in the 2021 edition of the Nittany Showdown; it was just his fourth start for CJB Motorsports.
