Big Game Motorsports Driver Sammy Swindell Keeping Busy on the Road

Inside Line Promotions – LAKE ODESSA, Mich. (June 2, 2014) – There isn’t much time for Big Game Motorsports driver Sammy Swindell to do anything but race and travel to the next track.

With the schedule heating up and now including mid-week races, Swindell and the Big Game Treestands team have been busy with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series.

Following a runner-up finish last Monday in Indiana, Swindell tackled Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio, on Friday.

“We went in a little different direction with a couple of things,” he said. “The track was so wet when we practiced that we went a lot quicker in qualifying and we were off on our gear a little bit.”

Swindell qualified eighth quickest and then finished fourth in his heat race to lock the Big Game Treestands car into the main event. After starting on the outside of the sixth row, Swindell battled for a top 10 for the entire feature before ending with an 11th-place result.

“We just didn’t tighten the car up enough,” he said. “It got a lot slicker for the way the track was. We were able to hang in there. We learned a lot of things that we were able to apply the next night.”

On Saturday, the Big Game Treestands team competed in the NAPA Rumble in Michigan at I-96 Speedway.

Swindell qualified third quickest and placed fourth in his heat race to earn a spot in the dash. He then finished where he started – fourth – in the dash to line up on the outside of the second row for the main event.

“The outside wasn’t as good on the start and we were right there running fourth most of the time,” he said of the main event. “It was all going pretty good. I was trying to conserve as much as I could at the first part.”

As Swindell maintained a top five for the first half of the feature, his right rear tire went flat near the midpoint of the race and Swindell was forced to bring out a caution to get it changed.

“Something cut the tire,” he said. “I was going to have a top four and maybe a top three. But there’s not much you can do about tires getting cut.”

Swindell restarted at the back of the field and he maneuvered to a 13th-place finish.

The Big Game Treestands team will face a tripleheader this week beginning on Wednesday at Kokomo Speedway in Kokomo, Ind. Swindell and the team will head to I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb., on Friday for the NAPA Shootout and the weekend will conclude on Saturday at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan., for the FVP Outlaws at Lakeside.
