Big Wheel elbows up at Tri-State; Knoxville Raceway doubleheader to cap April campaign

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (April 20, 2026) – Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Indiana, is an oval tough to tame, even for the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series, but the “Big Wheel” Scotty Thiel and Greg Wheeler Motorsports did their best to do so, eventually capping their Sunday night stay at the southern Indiana bullring with an 18th-place score, advancing six positions to do so. The Sheboygan, Wisconsin, native earned his way into the big dance via Last Chance Showdown transfer position.
Thiel, a former IRA Sprint Series champion and the ace of Greg Wheeler’s Scott Thiel Builders, Gibbsville Cheese, Flint Trucking, Professional Plating, Richards Well Drilling, Complete Water, GRP Motorsports, No. 16C sprinter, will now look ahead, set to tackle the “Sprint Car Capital of the World” in a two-day World of Outlaws visit on Friday and Saturday, April 24-25.
“We’re excited to get back to Knoxville Raceway. It’s an historic venue that carries a lot of prestige…we’re privileged to be a part of it,” Thiel said. “It’s been a tough year, but we’re powering through it. Momentum and confidence are key factors in creating success. We’re a confident team and we’re working hard, we just need to find a solid momentum kick. We’ll get it this weekend in Knoxville.”
