BOSS Wingless Warriors
Set To Tackle
“Dirt’s Monster Half Mile”

PITTSBURGH, PA — Join us this Saturday as the BOSS (Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series) Wingless Sprint cars return to Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway to battle in a 25-lap main event with the winner earning $1,400 for his efforts. The Diehl of Robinson Super Late Models, Precise Racing Products RUSH Pro-Lates, Sunoco Race Fuels Late Model Sportsman, Miley BP Car Wash Hobby Stocks and the Imperial Heights Garage Young Guns will complete the evening’s racing action.

“We are anticipating another great BOSS show this Saturday,” commented speedway owner Matt Miley. “Series’ promoter Aaron Fry and his staff as well as the drivers who support the Series’ are wonderful to work with. The fans get the opportunity to see the sprint cars in action with a bit of a different look than they are accustomed to so we are looking forward to a great evening of racing action.”


West Virginia’s Andre Layfield scored the win when the wingless warriors made their first ever appearance at the “Monster Half Mile” last June and has indicated he will be in attendance this Saturday. In addition to his BOSS victory Layfield also has two victories in PPMS E-Mod competition.

Area race fans will also get to see a familiar face, that of Gibsonburg, OH veteran Johnny Beaber return to the track. Beaber, who was a fixture on the Western PA circuit in the 1980s and claimed several Lernerville Speedway track championships and numerous feature wins, decided to return to competition and will certainly challenge the BOSS youngsters for the win.

One of the BOSS youngsters who will be in action Saturday is Tony Beaber, who is also Johnny’s son and he is also the current BOSS points leader. Beaber currently has a one point lead over Evans City, PA resident Brandon Spithaler. Spithaler has competed here at PPMS both with and without a wing and the rising star has already scored a BOSS win earlier in 2013 at the Mercer Raceway Park. Other Series’ winners in 2013 include Robert Ballou (Fremont, OH Speedway), Sheldon Haudenschild (Wayne County, OH Speedway) and Joss Moffatt (Lawrenceburg, IN Speedway).

Other Western PA favorites expected to be in action include “The West Virginia Wild Thing” Mark Cassella, Brent and Brandon Matus and Skip Daugherty. They will battle BOSS regulars Aaron Middaugh, Dustin Smith, who is also the defending Series’ Champion, Derek Hastings (the 2012 BOSS Series Rookie of the year), Landon Simon and Chad Wilson.

The top three finishers in Saturday’s BOSS main event will also receive additional contingency prizes compliments of K&N Performance.

As we approach the mid point of the 2013 racing season the points leaders are as follows: Michael Norris (Diehl of Robinson Super Late Models), Kyle Lukon (Precise Racing Products RUSH Pro-Late Models) Brian Huchko (Sunoco Race Fuels Late Model Sportsman) Christian Schneider (Miley BP Casrwash Hobby Stocks) and Dylan Bolind (Imperial Heights Garage Young Guns).

The Pit and Grandstand Admission Gates for this Saturday’s event open at 5:00PM with the first green flag waving promptly at 7:00PM.

Adult Grandstand Admission is $20.00. Seniors, Ages 60 and Over, are admitted for $19.00 with Juniors, Ages 13 to 16, priced at $15.00. Admission for Children aged Six through 12 is $5.00 and Children Under Age Six will be admitted Free. In addition, all children aged Six through 12 will receive a free gift when they present their admission ticket at the PPMS Gift Shop, which now features Apparel by Denise.

Pit Admission for this week’s event is $35.00.

Don’t forget that the Checkered Flag Food Court has a great variety of amusement park munchies like monster chicken wings, pepperoni rolls, grilled chicken sandwiches and cotton candy at “fan friendly prices.”
