Wampum, PA -9/12/12- Wampum, Pennsylvania native and fourth generation sprint car driver, Brandon Matus, is ready to tame the big half-mile at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway this Friday and Saturday during the prestigious ‘Tri-Star Pittsburgher’ event. The 24th annual weekend-long program will feature a 21 lap, $3,000-to-win main event for the ‘410’ sprint cars at the Imperial, Pennsylvania oval. Matus, who owns an All-Star Circuit of Champions victory in 2012 at Sharon Speedway, will join the rest of Western Pennsylvania’s finest this weekend for two days at ‘Dirt’s Monster Half-Mile.’ The sprint cars will be joined by many other dirt racing divisions including the UFo Super Late Models Super Series, and the BRP Modifieds.

The ‘Tri-Star Pittsburgher’ program will kick-off with preliminary action on Friday evening, September 14th. All preliminary action, which includes heat races and B-mains for all divisions, will take shape on Friday evening. On Saturday evening, September 15th, all drivers and teams will return to Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway for feature action. This will be the third appearance of the 2012 season for the ‘410’ sprint cars at PPMS. Ed Lynch, Jr. is the most recent sprint car winner at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway.

Coming into the ‘Tri-Star Pittsburgher’ weekend, Brandon Matus seems more confident than ever. ‘The Wheelman’ out of Wampum, Pennsylvania earned a careeer first All-Star Circuit of Champions victory earlier this season at Sharon Speedway in Hartford, Ohio. The $5,000 win came during ‘Ohio Sprint Speedweek’ action near the end of the month of June, and was earned over a large, and very competitive field of All-Star teams. Matus also earned a victory during midget competition in 2012. The recent high school graduate traveled to the state of Indiana on a few occasions this season and piloted a non-wing midget; which resulted in very respective outcomes including in a win, and runner-up finish. Matus also owns one career sprint car victory at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pennsylvania; as well as having multiple top five and top ten finishes to his credit. ‘The Wheelman’ will look to put all of this momentum to good use this weekend, and conquer ‘Dirt’s Monster Half-Mile.’
