Wampum, PA (February 26th, 2013) – Fourth generation sprint car driver and Western Pennsylvania native, Brandon Matus, is on pace to do incredible things in 2013. The Wampum native has already earned one career UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions’ victory during his young career; as well as earned a career-first midget win in the state of Indiana just last season. Knowing that Matus’ first career win in ‘410’ sprint car competition came just one year prior to accomplishing those two feats, it is safe to say that one can expect great things out of Brandon Matus in the years to come; and with the 2013 season just around the corner, race fans could expect to see those great things, now.

“I’m ready to go!” said Brandon Matus; son of Western Pennsylvania ‘410’ veteran, Brent Matus, “Things went really well for us last year…we had a lot of things go our way and I feel I had a pretty good season…hopefully we can keep that going this year and do even more…there are so many great people involved with this sport; whether it’s fellow racers or promoters…being a part of sprint car racing, like my father and grandfather, is an amazing feeling!”

Brandon Matus plans to ‘follow the money’ during his 2013 campaign; as well as follow a potential plan to race for the 2013 Lernerville Speedway Track Championship. The Sobczak Electric, Matus Service Center, Miller Masonry, ‘13’ team will have a ‘mixed’ focus and schedule during the upcoming season that includes traveling, and staying local. The former Lernerville Speedway winner looks forward to being ‘loyal’ to all tracks and promoters that plan to host ‘bigger’ shows in the Western Pennsylvania area this season. If things go in the right direction right from the start, Matus will freeze any travel plans on Friday nights, and instead, hunt for a Lernerville title. Brandon Matus will also compete against the UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions and World of Outlaws STP Sprint Cars on several occasions in 2013; hoping to repeat success and earn a UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions’ victory lane appearance in consecutive seasons.

“This year we are going to race as much as we can and get as much seat time as we can” explained Matus, “We want to race all of the bigger shows in our area, for sure…as well as hit and miss the local and regional All Star and World of Outlaws stuff…if things are going in the right direction at the beginning of the year, we may try and earn the Lernerville point title…there is a lot of history at that place and a lot of big names have earned championships there…wouldn’t mind adding my name to that list!”

The ‘Wheelman’ will also compete with the Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series (B.O.S.S.) on a few occasions in 2013. The Ohio-based non-wing sprint car tour invades Western Pennsylvania, and the surrounding areas, on a few occasions during the upcoming season; giving Western Pennsylvania ‘410’ regulars, like Matus, an opportunity to compete without the wings. For more information, visit the B.O.S.S. online home at www.buckeyesprints.com

As far as when the ‘Wheelman’ will decide to kick-off his upcoming season, nothing is set in stone. With the Western Pennsylvania ‘regular season’ not launching until the beginning of April, it is safe to say that the ‘Wheelman’ will be seen out and about.

“We want to race as much as possible and be consistent…we had a lot of DNF’s last season that could have been wins…hopefully we can change that and find victory lane a few more times in 2013!”
