Brent Marks hard charges in Charlotte, earns top-ten during Weikert Memorial
By Fully Injected Motorsports:
MYERSTOWN, Pa. (May 29, 2018) – Brent Marks made the most of his long, holiday weekend, not only entering a pair of World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series events in North Carolina and Indiana, but also making the long haul home to Pennsylvania to be a part of the annual Bob Weikert Memorial at Port Royal Speedway.
For the most part, the weekend proved to be a success story, kicking-off Memorial Day weekend with a hard charge to finish 12th at The Dirt Track at Charlotte (N.C.) on Friday, May 25, followed by back-to-back top-ten performances during the annual Bob Weikert Memorial on Saturday and Sunday, May 26-27. The “Myerstown Missile” finished eighth and ninth, respectively, at the Port Royal “Speed Palace.”
Marks’ hard charge from 20th to finish 12th at The Dirt Track at Charlotte was enough to solidify the KSE Hard Charger Award for advancing the most positions during the World of Outlaws A-main.
Unfortunately, the weekend momentum boost halted for Marks during his visit to Lawrenceburg (Ind.) Speedway with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series on Monday evening, May 28; unable to qualify for the evening’s main event.
“For the most part, it was a successful weekend for our team, and an even better weekend for most of our partners,” Brent Marks said, driver of the M&M Painting & Construction/BAPS Auto Paint & Supply/Eagle Hotel/Buckwalter Trucking/No. 19 sprint car. “A lot of our partners are based right in Pennsylvania. For them to have the chance to come to the track and be a part of all of the action is awesome. If it wasn’t for them and their dedication to sprint car racing, our time out on the road would be short. Port Royal Speedway has a pair of Outlaw shows later on this fall. Hopefully we can come back and put our Weikert notes to good use.”
Up next on the schedule, Brent Marks and Brent Marks Racing will enter a trio of World of Outlaws programs in four days, set to invade Illinois, Michigan, and Wisconsin, respectively. Marks’ action-packed week and weekend will commence tomorrow evening – Wednesday, May 30 – with an appearance at Fairbury (Ill.) American Legion Speedway, followed by stops at I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, Mich, on Friday, June 1, and Wilmot (Wis.) Raceway on Saturday, June 2.
