PERTH, Australia (January 3, 2021) – The fourth try was definitely the charm for the “Jonestown Jet” Brock Zearfoss, finally breaking through for a first-ever Australian victory after three straight podium performances. Zearfoss, pilot of the Sean Carren-owned No. 95W during his tenure Down Under, scored his triumph during night four of Western Australia Speedweek at Ellenbrook Speedway in Bullsbrook, Australia, on Saturday, January 2, eventually leading all 30 circuits to become the first American to win at the facility; Zearfoss was the first American to ever compete at Ellenbrook.
“What an amazing feeling to be the first American to race at Ellenbrook Speedway, and to be the first American to win at Ellenbrook,” Zearfoss explained. “I am so grateful for the Carren Family. For everyone to pull together and help make this dream a reality is just unbelievable. I want to thank the Kendrick team and Lynton Jeffrey, as well. They helped put this trip together and I wouldn’t be here without their help.
“Brenton and the boys are doing an awesome job with these race cars,” Zearfoss added. “It has been a dream to drive. I’m confident our final two starts together will be just as successful as the first four.”
The Ellenbrook win, accomplished from the pole position after winning the evening’s first dash, offered a taste of sweet redemption for the Jonestown, Pennsylvania-native, as Zearfoss finished second one night prior at Bunbury Speedway after leading all but the final four circuits.
“Losing at Bunbury kinda stung, more than usual,” Zearfoss continued. “To be that close and not get it is enough to make anyone disappointed. I know how much that place means to the team, so I made it a point to get a win for them that night. We were close, but just not close enough. To come back the next day and get a win at Ellenbrook kinda made it all the better.”
With four rounds of Western Australia Speedweek complete, Zearfoss and Sean Carren own four consecutive podium finishes and currently sit on top of the Speedweek standings, finishing no worse than second since round two at Perth Motorplex on December 28. As a bonus, successful heat race and dash attempts have allowed Zearfoss to position himself on the front row for each and every Speedweek start.
Set for Wednesday, January 6, and Saturday, January 9, the final two rounds of Western Australia Speedweek will take shape at Perth Motorplex.
