Broniszewski Captures Laboon Memorial 20;
Martin Victorious in “Topless 25” Action

PITTSBURGH, PA — Jeff Broniszewski claimed the $2,000 first place prize money in the Second Annual Ed Laboon Memorial 20 at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway on Saturday, June 1st. Other winners included: Jared Miley (Diehl of Robinson Super Late Models), Joe Martin (Precise Racing Products RUSH Pro-Lates), Christian Schneider (Miley BP Hobby Stocks) and Dylan Bolind (Imperial Heights Garage Young Guns).

Jeff Broniszewski of nearby Coraopolis, PA scored the biggest win of his career as he captured the $2,000 first place prize in the Second Annual Ed Laboon Memorial. Broniszewski was victorious in the Citizens Bank Dash for Cash which placed him on the pole of the 20 lap main event. Broniszewski and Pat Weldon battled side by side for the first five circuits with Broniszewski nosing ahead at the start/finish line of each. The first caution flew for Tim Burns on lap five when the Greenville, PA driver tagged the turn two wall and retired from the event.

Green flag racing resumed with Broniszewski leading the sixth lap and Weldon nosing ahead to lead the seventh circuit. Broniszewski battled back to lead the eighth lap. Four additional cautions would slow the field but each time Broniszewski was able to remain in command. Brookvile, PA invader Rusty Martz joined the battle for the top spot and overtook Weldon for the runner-up position on lap 16. At the finish it was Broniszewski over Martz, Weldon, Rusty Moore and Bobby Whitling.

Weldon, Brian Huchko, Joey Koteles and Martz were victorious in the preliminary events. Weldon set the fast time in the group qualifying that was used to determine the heat race lineups. Huchko also received the HB Hard Luck Award and Bob Sloss received the Stush’s Auto/Huchko Racing Hard Charger Award as he started the main event in the 29th spot and finished a very respectable 11th at the end of the main event.

Laura Lukon and Josh Holtgraver brought the “Topless 25” Pro-Late Model main event to the green flag with Holtgraver winning the battle to lead the first circuit. Holtgraver would go on to lead the first five circuits before fourth place started Joe Martin took over the top spot. Martin and Holtgraver battled for two more circuits with Mike Pegher, Jr. joining in taking over the second spot on lap nine. The event’s first caution also flew on lap nine when Justin Lamb and Kyle Lukon made contact and both spun in the second turn. When green flag racing returned Martin once again pulled away from the field and went on to score his first PPMS victory of the year in his Allegheny Crane Rental sponsored Wylie Chassis. Pegher, Jr. claimed the runner-up spot followed by Laura Lukon, Tommy Schirnhofer and Holtgraver.

Lamb, Kyle Lukon and Pegher, Jr, scored the heat race victories.

Jared Miley’s misfortunate at the Lernerville Speedway on Friday evening forced the team to change their plans for the weekend and the change paid off as Miley captured his second PPMS victory of the season. Miley started in the second spot of the main event and led the entire distance to score his second PPMS victory of 2013. Brandon Burgoon finished second in the caution free event followed by Michael Norris, Kyle Lukon and Keith Barbara.

Norris and Barbara claimed the preliminary events.

Christian Schneider claimed his sixth win of the season in Hobby Stock action as he like Miley, led the entire distance of the feature event. John Wiser finished second.

Fourteen year old Imperial resident Dylan Bolind picked up his fourth Young Guns feature victory over Roman O’Neill, O.B. Huff, Karlee Kovacs, Jonathan Miller and Jarrett Sugar.
