MITCHELLVILLE, Iowa (May 8, 2023) – Despite their primary driver, Ian Madsen, still on the sidelines due to concussion recovery protocol, Mitchellville, Iowa’s TKS Motorsports did their best to power on and persevere, and persevere is what they did, eventually capping Knoxville Raceway’s season opening program with a top-five score, accomplished by temporary driver and Waco, Texas, native, Chase Randall.

Randall, powering Troy Renfro’s Albaugh – Your Alternative, Iowa Barnstormers, Des Moines Industrial Products, deWit Construction, No. 2KS, finished fourth in the Sprint Car Capital of the World’s official lid lifter, racing ahead two positions after starting sixth on the feature grid. In all, a great evening for the Texan, kicking things off with the eighth-fastest qualifying time, padding that with a third-place finish during his respective heat race.

The top-five outcome was TKS Motorsports’ first of the season, snapping a stretch of bad luck that included several “nowhere to go” incidents with Madsen at the helm.

“This is a great momentum kick for our team and we are all very pleased,” Troy Renfro explained. “A big thanks to Chase Randall for stepping in while Ian continues to recover. He gave us the opportunity to fine tune our program and we’re hoping to continue this momentum when we return to Knoxville this weekend.”
