CARLISLE, Pa. (August 15, 2022) – The toughest week of the season nearly resulted in an A-Main start for CJB Motorsports and Spencer Bayston, but ultimately, the team out of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, was two positions short, forced to compete in Saturday’s Knoxville Nationals B-Main after finishing sixth in Friday’s “Hard Knox” last chance program. Only the top four “Hard Knox” finishers made the call for the 50-lap, $175,000-to-win main event. With that said, a top-four finish in Saturday’s B-Main would still result in an A-Main start; the team was scored 19th.

Bayston, driver of the CJB Motorsports, TrueTimber, Signing Day Sports, Bubbly Brands, JRC Transportation, Nyce Crete and Landis, Ecynbro Trucking, C&S Lawn and Landscape, Kistler Engines, No. 5 sprint car, was forced to compete in Friday’s “Hard Knox” last chance event after a frustrating preliminary outing on Thursday, capping the program with only a B-Main start.

“A race like the Knoxville Nationals, you spend months preparing for, and that’s exactly what we did…we did everything we could to make sure our team and car were prepared to compete and contend for a Knoxville Nationals championship. Unfortunately, things just didn’t go our way this week, but it’s certainly not from a lack of trying. We all came into Knoxville with high hopes and great confidence,” Spencer Bayston said, a two-time World of Outlaws winner thus far in his rookie campaign. “I can’t thank Barry, Scott, and Scotty enough for their hard work and determination. Our goal was to reward our car owner, Chad Clemens, with a week’s worth of success, but it just didn’t unfold like we wanted. We still have a lot to look forward to with some great races ahead. We’ll do everything we can to finish the year strong.”

ON DECK:
Spencer Bayston and CJB Motorsports will continue their 2022 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series campaign with the three-day Jackson Nationals at Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minnesota, on Thursday through Saturday, August 18-20.
