YORK, Pa. (October 21, 2019) – Cory Haas and Trone Outdoor Motorsports put together an impressive campaign during Port Royal Speedway’s Open Wheel Madness on Saturday night, and although the team ended their outing fifth in the running order, the level of potential was much greater, as Haas found himself battling for the lead during the early stages of the $4,000-to-win main event.

Haas, driver of John Trone’s Trone Outdoor Motorsports/Trone Outdoor Advertising/Old Republic Distillery/York PB Truss/Wicked Cushion/Bricker’s/Creekside Auto Sales/No. 39 sprint car, started second on the Open Wheel Madness grid and quickly made a move for the top spot, eventually working his way around TJ Stutts to lead lap three. Despite an attempt to keep Stutts at bay, an ensuing restart after a caution allowed Stutts to work back by Haas.

The York, Pennsylvania-native kicked-off his evening with the eighth fastest time during qualifying time trials.

“It was solid run for our team. We showed a lot of speed, which is important. I think we were just as good as anyone on Saturday,” Cory Haas said, who earned two victories during his 2019 campaign; one at Williams Grove Speedway and one at BAPS Motor Speedway. “I can’t thank John Trone enough for this opportunity. We are not exactly sure what the rest of the year has in store, but regardless of the decision, it has been a fun year. We showed a lot of speed on a lot of different occasions.”

Upcoming plans for Cory Haas and Trone Outdoor Motorsports remain uncertain.  Any updates will be posted via social media in the coming days.
