Danny Dietrich earns top-ten during Weikert Memorial finale

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

GETTYSBURG, Pa. (May 29, 2018) – Although beginning below expectations, Danny Dietrich’s Memorial Day weekend campaign ended on a high note, not only securing another mark in the top-ten column, his 18th of the season, but doing so during the annual Bob Weikert Memorial at Port Royal (Pa.) Speedway, all while flying the familiar Weikert colors and number.

Dietrich, who piloted the Weikert’s Livestock Inc./No. 29 sprint car during the two-day Weikert Memorial program at the Port Royal “Speed Palace,” finished sixth during the $10,000-to-win weekend finale on Sunday evening, an impressive rebound after being scored 20th during preliminary competition on Saturday as the result of his involvement in an on-track incident.

The Gettysburg, Pa., native activated his weekend with the Walt Dyer Tribute at Williams Grove Speedway on Friday, May 25. Dietrich was scored 14th after starting on the outside of row eight.

“The weekend didn’t start out too well, but we were able to end the weekend inside the top-ten. We’re happy with that,” Danny Dietrich explained, a four-time winner thus far this season in Central Pennsylvania. “It was an honor to driver the Weikert’s Livestock No. 29 again. I’m fortunate enough to have Weikert as a major partner with Gary Kauffman Racing, so anytime I get an opportunity to slap the No. 29 on the wing, I’m going to do it.”

Danny Dietrich will continue his 2018 campaign with a trio of starts during the first weekend of June. Although his schedule for Saturday and Sunday, June 2 & 3, sits sturdy, planning to visit Lincoln Speedway and Bedford Speedway, respectively, his itinerary for Friday, June 1, has yet to be determined. One option is to travel west and race head-to-head with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 for a $5,000 top prize at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pennsylvania.

Sunday’s Bedford Speedway start will also feature Tony Stewart’s All Stars. A decision regarding Friday will be made later in the week.
