Danny Dietrich plans to visit the Speed Palace for Dream Race, Weedsport with World of Outlaws
By Fully Injected Motorsports:
GETTYSBURG, Pa. (July 23, 2018) – Danny Dietrich nearly made history again on Thursday night during his visit to the “Fabulous” Lincoln Speedway, but unfortunately lapped traffic got the best of the Gettysburg native, forcing the nine-time Central Pennsylvania winner in 2018 to retire from main event competition early.
Dietrich joined the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series at Lincoln Speedway for the annual Gettysburg Clash on Thursday night. During preliminary competition, “Double-D” won his heat race and finished seventh in the evening’s dash, ultimately setting up his inside-fourth row starting position.
Charging toward the front in a hurry, Dietrich found himself in a battle for second with Freddie Rahmer. While attempting to slide by the familiar No. 51 for the runner-up spot, Dietrich was forced to check-up to avoid making contact with a slower car, eventually spinning and coming to a rest at the exit of turn four. With nowhere to go, Brad Sweet drove into Dietrich causing significant damage to each car. Both drivers walked away unharmed. Dietrich was scored 26th at the finish.
Dietrich returned to World of Outlaws competition the following night at Williams Grove Speedway and finished 13th during the Summer Nationals preliminary/Morgan Cup program. A fifth place finish during heat race action secured his row seven starting spot.
“When you get into traffic like that, you have to be a little more careful than usual. Those things happen. Unfortunately, that cost us a win, possibly, or at the very least a podium finish. I was really comfortable,” Danny Dietrich explained, driver of the Gary Kauffman Racing/Weikert’s Livestock/Sandoe’s Fruit Market/Pace Performance/Gsell’s Whitetails/Hickory Run Orchards/Drop Of Ink Tattoo/Sweeney Cars/Self Made/No. 48 sprint car. “I have a great group of guys who worked their butts off to get us back to being race-ready for Friday. We have a lot of racing during the next few weeks. No sense in being distracted over what could have been.”
Danny Dietrich will continue his 2018 campaign with a pair of starts during the upcoming weekend, set to join the field at the Port Royal Speedway “Speed Palace” for the annual Living Legends Dream Race on Saturday night, July 28. The high profile program will award a $10,000 top prize.
On Sunday, July 29, Dietrich will make the trip north and join the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series yet again, this time at the state-of-the-art Weedsport Speedway in Weedsport, N.Y.
