Danny Holtgraver is Ready to Race on Familiar Dirt
Holtgraver and Phoenix Racing Will Visit Mercer and Millstream During Holiday Weekend

Pittsburgh, PA (July 2nd, 2015) – Danny Holtgraver will have the opportunity to race in front of his ‘home crowd’ once again in 2015, as the UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions are set to invade western Pennsylvania for a pair of high profile events during the upcoming holiday weekend.
Holtgraver, driver of the Phoenix Racing, Bonnell’s Rod Shop, DKW Transport, Auto Electric of Jupiter, Florida, Southern Pacific Farms, no. 59 ‘410’ sprint car, will rejoin the traveling All Stars roughly one hour north of his Pittsburgh hometown; ready to compete in back to back programs at the Mercer Raceway Park in Mercer, Pennsylvania.
Mercer Raceway Park will feature a $3,000-to-win All Star Circuit of Champions program on Friday evening, July 3rd, followed by a $5,000-to-win main event on Saturday, July 4th. The Phoenix Racing ‘59’ team was scored 20th during their last All Star appearance at Mercer back on Saturday, May 2nd. Holtgraver was racing inside the top-ten before suffering from a flat right-rear tire on the final circuit. The former All Star main event winner at Mercer Raceway Park will hunt for redemption this weekend.
“Really excited to race close to home this weekend” said Holtgraver, “Gives my family and a lot of our friends an opportunity to watch us race for a few nights. Our luck ran short during our last visit to Mercer. We had a great run going and ended up getting a flat. Hopefully we can avoid that happening this weekend a work towards a win.”
After their two-day visit to Mercer Raceway Park on July 3rd & 4th, Danny Holtgraver and Phoenix Racing will continue their holiday weekend with a visit to the Millstream Speedway near Findlay, Ohio on Sunday, July 5th; once again joining the UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions for a potential $5,000 payday. It will be the first Millstream Speedway visit of the 2015 season for Danny Holtgraver, as well as the All Stars, as the speedway continues to struggle opening their gates due to relentless wet weather.
Danny Holtgraver and Phoenix Racing will enter the upcoming three-race UNOH All Star swing currently eighth in the series standings; on the strength of four top-five and nine top-ten finishes. Holtgraver, a three-time All Star winner in 2014, is still searching for his first win of 2015 and his first win with Phoenix Racing.
“I just want to thank Tom and Sherry Leidig again for this opportunity” said Holtgraver, “Things may look negative on the results sheet, but we are improving and finding speed. It’s just one of those years. Sometimes you just have to shake your head and keep moving forward. I also want to thank Bob Curtis for coming on and helping us out. Bob came on board just before speedweek and has played a big role. Hopefully we can build on each other and make positive things happen.”
Danny Holtgraver and Phoenix Racing recently joined the UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions during Ohio Sprint Speedweek presented by Cometic Gasket. Holtgraver ended his seven consecutive race stretch twelfth in the final Ohio Sprint Speedweek standings. The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native earned two top-ten finishes during his trek across the ‘Buckeye State’ including an eighth place finish at the Eldora (OH) Speedway on Saturday, June 20th and a ninth place finish at the Wayne County (OH) Speedway on Monday, June 22nd.
“Frustrating week in some spots” said Holtgraver, “We kept getting better as the week moved ahead and that is really motivating. We’ll move that little bit of momentum into this weekend and see what we can do.”
