GETTYSBURG, Pa. (July 22, 2019) – It was a short week for ‘Double-D,’ but the outcome was big, scoring the $8,080 Mitch Smith Memorial victory at Williams Grove Speedway on Friday, July 19.
For Dietrich, the World of Outlaws tune-up triumph bumped his season win total to 12, four of which at Williams Grove Speedway. Impressive enough, Dietrich has officially surpassed his 2018 win total by two victories; a perfect momentum boost entering a busy stretch that includes multiple World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series starts at Lernerville Speedway and Williams Grove Speedway, respectively.
Dietrich started second on Friday night at Williams Grove Speedway, eventually forced to hold back Freddie Rahmer and Anthony Macri to secure the five-figure payday.
“This is a great time to be good. My team works their tails off and it really shows. We’ll do whatever we can to score another Outlaw victory this weekend on home turf,” Danny Dietrich explained, driver of the Gary Kauffman Racing/Weikert’s Livestock/Sandoe’s Fruit Market/Pace Performance/Big Cove Whitetail Trophy Hunts/Drop Of Ink Tattoo/Sweeney Cars/Self Made/No. 48 sprint car. “Hopefully we can get the week started off right at Lernerville on Tuesday. We enjoy racing there, so it will be fun to get back.”
Danny Dietrich and Gary Kauffman Racing will join the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series at Lernerville Speedway on Tuesday, July 23; the first of three starts with the Greatest Show On Dirt in five days. Tuesday’s Silver Cup will award a $25,000 top prize.
The Gettysburg, Pennsylvania-native will cap the week with the two-day Summer Nationals at Williams Grove Speedway on Friday and Saturday, July 26 & 27. Chasing a total winner’s share equalling $28,000, Friday’s Summer Nationals preliminary will award an $8,000 payday, followed by the $20,000-to-win Summer Nationals finale on Saturday. Dietrich will enter the weekend with one World of Outlaws victory to his credit this season, that occurring at Bridgeport Speedway in Bridgeport, New Jersey, on May 21.
