GETTYSBURG, Pa. (August 5, 2019) – Despite kicking-off the weekend in Central Pennsylvania, but concluding his three-race campaign 14 hours from home in Knoxville, Iowa, ‘Double-D’ Danny Dietrich put together a string of sound performances during the last four days including a runner-up performance during Port Royal Speedway’s $10,000-to-win Living Legends Dream Race on Saturday, August 3.
The Gettysburg-native started seventh on the Dream grid, charging ahead for his 35th top-five finish of the 2019 season.
Impressive enough, following his Dream Race outing, Dietrich, driver of the Gary Kauffman Racing/Weikert’s Livestock/Sandoe’s Fruit Market/Pace Performance/Big Cove Whitetail Trophy Hunts/Drop Of Ink Tattoo/Sweeney Cars/Self Made/No. 48 sprint car, made the 14-hour tow west to Knoxville Raceway for the annual Capitani Classic on Sunday, August 4. The hectic and tiring travel proved to be well worth the effort for the former Knoxville Nationals A-main starter, ultimately qualifying for Capitani Classic main event competition amongst 76 other competitors. ‘Double-D’ went on to finish 21st, earning his way into the ‘big show’ by finishing third during his respective heat race.
“It wasn’t a bad weekend for our team. I’m glad we were able to get to Knoxville in time for the Capitani Classic. That race is a perfect opportunity for us to test and tune for the Nationals,” Danny Dietrich explained, a 12-time winner in 2019 which includes victories against the All Stars and Outlaws. “I can’t thank Gary Kauffman and my entire team enough for this opportunity. Hopefully we can put together a few good days out here and get in that A-main on Saturday.”
Unfortunately, Dietrich was forced to settle with a ‘DNF’ during Williams Grove Speedway’s Billy Kimmel Memorial on Friday, August 2.
Up next on the schedule, Danny Dietrich and Gary Kauffman Racing will return to the Sprint Car Capital of the World for the coveted Knoxville Nationals, launching officially on Wednesday, August 7. The four-day program will be headlined with a $150,000-to-win A-main on Saturday, August 10.
