CHICORA, Pa. (July 12, 2021) – Chicora, Pennsylvania’s George Hobaugh was well on his way to another impressive All Star Circuit of Champions finish at Sharon Speedway on Saturday evening, only to be denied by accidental contact with an infield tire on lap 17. The recent Sharon Speedway winner was battling in the runner-up position at the time of the incident, leading the first 12 circuits of the $8,000-to-win Lou Blaney Memorial before losing the top spot to eventual winner and full-time All Star, Spencer Bayston. Unfortunately, the incident left Hobaugh’s car unrepairable; he was scored 23rd.
Hobaugh, driver of the Hobaugh Motorsports, Krill Recycling, Laskowski Plumbing, Ridgeview Security, Hobaugh’s Auto Parts, Colliers Custom Kitchen and Bath, No. 40 sprint car, started from the outside-pole position for the Blaney 30-lapper, earning the front row by way of heat race victory, as well as dash victory; there were 43 cars entered for action.
“That wasn’t the end result we wanted, but we were right there, so it feels good to know where we stand,” Hobaugh said, who finished fifth against the All Star Circuit of Champions at Sharon Speedway during Ohio Sprint Speedweek. “We have a pretty solid notebook built for Sharon right now. Every time we’ve raced there, we’ve been fast. I think if we get lady luck on our side, we’ll get a win against the All Stars at that place.”
George Hobaugh and Hobaugh Motorsports will continue their 2021 season with another doubleheader in the Keystone State, set to visit Lernerville Speedway and Port Royal Speedway on Friday and Saturday, July 16-17. Hobaugh’s visit to Lernerville will act as a primary test session for upcoming World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series competition, as the Greatest Show On Dirt will invade Sarver, Pennsylvania, for the annual $25,000-to-win Silver Cup on Tuesday, July 20.
