Holtgraver Earns Blaney Memorial Prize at Sharon Speedway, Ready to Challenge the Greatest Show on Dirt at Attica and Eldora
By Fully Injected Motorsports:
PITTSBURGH (July 11, 2016) – For the second time in 2016 and for the 11th time in his young career, “Downtown” Danny Holtgraver is a winner with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions, this time capturing the eighth annual Lou Blaney Memorial title in Hartford, Ohio, worth $10,000. The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, native outdueled 38 other entries to solidify himself in Sharon Speedway victory lane, leading all 30 main event laps while holding off fellow Arctic Cat All Star traveler Sheldon Haudenschild and Ohio veteran Dean Jacobs. The five figure payday is the second of Holtgraver’s career, but the first during 410 sprint car competition. “Downtown” earned the 2013 “King of the 360s” title at East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, Florida, also worth $10,000.
“It really hasn’t sunk in yet to be honest,” explained Holtgraver. “I’m not really sure what to say. This is huge for our team. The last month and a half or two months has been pretty strong for us, but this really takes us to a whole new level. I think our confidence level and momentum level is at an all-time high right now. We’re excited to get back at it this weekend.”
Danny Holtgraver and Pete Grove’s Premier Motorsports/Premier Pallet/Bonnell’s Rod Shop/DKW Transport/No. 70 operation will continue their 2016 campaign with four World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series programs during the next five days, beginning Tuesday evening, July 12, with the Brad Doty Classic at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio.
Holtgraver’s mini stretch with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series will continue on Thursday through Saturday, July 14-16, with the 33rd annual Kings Royal at Eldora Speedway. Three, full nights of competition will take over racing headlines at the World’s Greatest Dirt Track, awarding a total winner’s share equaling $72,000. Thursday night’s “Jokers Wild” program and Friday night’s “Knight Before the Kings Royal” program will award $10,000 and $12,000, respectively, followed by Saturday night’s Kings Royal finale worth $50,000.
“There is a lot on the line during the next five days,” Holtgraver said. “We’re heading into a really important part of our season. From now until Knoxville is when things really start to heat up. I’m as ready as I’ve ever been. I can’t thank my team and car owner enough for what they do for me. We’re having a lot of fun right now. That takes away a lot of pressure. We’re ready to go.”
