Austintown, OH (11-8-2012) Austintown, Ohio native and Team Fully Injected outlaw sprint warrior competitor, Justin Whitesell, enters the off-season with two more wins, at two different Western Pennsylvania dirt ovals, to add to his ever-growing racing resume. ‘The Man From Austintown’ competes regularly in outlaw sprint warrior/305 sprint car competition, and occasionally in ‘410’ sprint car competition, across Western Pennsylvania and Eastern Ohio; racing at tracks such as Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway, Lernerville Speedway, Mercer Raceway Park, Wayne County Speedway, and Sportsmans Speedway. Whitesell had a productive season in 2012 behind the wheel of his Superior Auto Body/FullyInjected.com ’17,’ as he continues to prepare for what he hopes to be his first full season in ‘410’ sprint car competition in 2013.
“We had a pretty good season…seat time; lots and lots of seat time was the goal” said Justin Whitesell, “We got a few more wins which was great…I just wanted to get as much seat time as possible this year…whether it was racing against my own class, or against the ‘410’ guys…wins were definitely a great bonus!”
Justin Whitesell earned two (2) wins in 2012 during outlaw sprint warrior/305 sprint car competition. The Eastern Ohio native scored a victory at Mercer Raceway Park in Mercer, Pennsylvania during the most recent racing season; as well as picked up a win at the Sportsmans Speedway near Knox, Pennsylvania later in the summer. ‘The Man From Austintown’ now has three (3) career wins in outlaw sprint warrior/305 action; with the other win coming at Mercer Raceway Park in 2011. When the familiar orange and black ’17’ was not racing up against other drivers and teams in his own class, he was entering against local ‘410’ sprint car competitors; allowing for as much seat time as possible even when the track was not offering his own class. Whitesell raced his 5.3 liter GM powered sprinter against ‘410’ competitors at such facilities like Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pennsylvania, and Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, Ohio.
“We liked racing against the ‘410’ guys…even if we were greatly under-powered” explained Whitesell, ‘The outlaw sprint warrior class isn’t very popular where we live…in fact, if it wasn’t for other tracks allowing us to enter with the 305’s like Mercer, we would be limited to one track a week…so racing with the ‘410’ guys was basically mandatory for us if I wanted to get more seat time.”
As far as 2013 is concerned, nothing is set in stone just yet. Whitesell hopes to move up to the ‘410’ ranks as soon as this coming season; if the financials are in order. The Superior Auto Body/FullyInjected.com ’17’ teams hopes to part ways with the 5.3 GM’s, and open the season with a brand new ‘410’ Kistler.
“We need to sell our other motors before we can go ‘410’ racing…if we can get our finances in order, and maybe pick up a few more sponsors who are interested in helping us, then things may go in the right direction for us…but for now I just want to thank my dad for all he has done…and thank all of my sponsors…without them, I would be nowhere close to where I am now!”
