BROWNSBURG, Ind. (July 19, 2021) – Despite suffering from some bad luck in each of the $175,000-to-win Kings Royal programs at Eldora Speedway, both of which contested on the same day – Saturday, July 17 – due to Mother Nature’s wrath on Thursday and Friday, the “Madman” Kerry Madsen showed a lot of promise in the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Rush Truck Centers/Advance Auto Parts/Curb Records/Ford Performance/Digital Ally/Sage Fruit/FloRacing/Absolute Automation and Security/Hunt Brothers Pizza/Mobil 1/Carquest Auto Parts/J&J Auto Racing/No. 14 sprint car and kicked-off his Elorda visit with a top-five score on Wednesday, July 14.
Madsen, who has been substituting for three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion and NASCAR Hall of Famer, Tony Stewart, for the last several weeks, earned his top-five during Eldora Speedway’s Jokers Wild, starting fourth on the grid before finishing in the exact same position. The Knoxville, Iowa, local via New South Wales, Australia, earned his way into the Jokers Wild A-Main via heat race victory, launching the program with the fastest time during his respective group qualifying time trials.
Unfortunately, Madsen’s momentum on Wednesday did not transfer into Saturday’s Kings Royal doubleheader, forced to end both programs on the hook; scored 22nd during the 38th Annual Kings Royal on Saturday afternoon after contact with another competitor, followed by another case of incidental contact during Saturday evening’s 37th Annual Kings Royal heat race. Regardless, there was a silver lining in Madsen’s string of bad luck, as the recent World of Outlaws winner aboard the TSR No. 14 timed sixth-quick overall for Saturday afternoon’s program, finishing second during his respective heat to make the big dance.
An upcoming schedule for Kerry Madsen and Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing has yet to be determined. Fans are encouraged to keep alert online, as well as on social media, for continuing updates regarding Madsen’s Tony Stewart Racing schedule.
