Kyle Colwell sweeps Allegheny Sprint Tour action during Memorial Day weekend

SENECA, PA (June 1, 2017) – The IMCA/Racesaver Allegheny Sprint Tour made appearances at two different Western Pennsylvania ovals during Memorial Day weekend, one of which resulting in some of the fastest speeds of the season. The region’s finest 305 cubic inch sprint car aces visited Thunder Mountain Speedway and Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway during their holiday weekend ventures, each welcoming Knox, Pennsylvania’s Kyle Colwell to victory lane.

In fact, Kyle Colwell was the only driver to finish inside the top-five during each of the events conducted over the course of the weekend. Colwell now joins an Allegheny Sprint Tour winner’s list that includes Ralph Engel and Jake Gomola.

“It was a great weekend for our Series,” Jake Gomola explained, Allegheny Sprint Tour promoter. “The best part about our weekend was the opportunity to race on two completely different ovals. Thunder Mountain Speedway and Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway are basically polar opposites. At Pittsburgh, we were clocking-in somewhere in the mid-120mph range. That is pretty impressive coming from a 305 cubic inch sprint car. I think we are all pretty excited to get back there on Saturday.”

The IMCA/Racesaver Allegheny Sprint Tour will continue competition on Friday and Saturday, June 2-3, with visits to Lernerville Speedway in Sarver and Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway near Imperial. It will be the Series’ first visit to Lernerville Speedway in 2017, joining the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions for an epic, open wheel doubleheader.

Following their visit to Lernerville Speedway on June 2, Allegheny Sprint Tour competitors will travel southwest, making the near-one hour tow for a second consecutive weekend visit to Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway on Saturday, June 3.

A total of eight events will take shape during the month of June, with visits to Eriez Speedway, Tri-City Raceway Park and Thunder Mountain Speedway also in the mix.

“I want to thank all of the officials, staff, drivers and race teams for making this season possible,” Gomola expressed. “Our intent is to keep growing. I’m excited for what the future brings.”
