WAYCROSS, GA (July 24, 2013) – The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will head back east this weekend to two tracks in two states. The LOLMDS will travel to the Rick Jones-promoted Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex in Markleysburg, PA. on Friday night July 26th for the rescheduled event that was rained out on April 19th. There will be a complete show on Friday night with RED BUCK Time Trials, Heat Races, B-Mains, and a $10,000 to win 50-lap feature event. Joining the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series at Roaring Knob will be Crate Late Models paying $2,000 to win. For more information about Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex visit www.roaringknob.com.

On Saturday night, July 27th, the series returns to the “Capitol of Dirt Racing” Hagerstown Speedway in Hagerstown, MD. The Frank Plessinger-promoted ½ mile race track will host the nation’s best dirt late model drivers for the second time in 2013 and the ninth time in the series history. An impressive streak of eight different winners in eight races at Hagerstown is on the line as Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN won the series last event in April of this year. The “32nd Annual Cononcocheague 50″will include a complete show with RED BUCK Time Trials, Heat Races, B-Mains, and $10,000 to win 50-lap feature event. “The series is looking forward to heading back east and seeing all the great fans in that area. Both tracks will provide some exciting racing action and great competition from around the northeast”, stated Ritchie Lewis, Director, Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.

The series is coming off a very successful five race swing through the Midwest. Steve Francis, John Blankenship, Billy Moyer, Jason Feger and Jimmy Owens all collected wins during the Midwest swing. The LOLMDS championship points standings have tightened up dramatically as John Blankenship leads Steve Francis by a mere 45 points. Two-time and reigning series champion Jimmy Owens is in third, only 55 points behind Blankenship. Don O’Neal is fourth in the series points standings and four-time series champion Earl Pearson Jr. rounds out the top five.

Sixth through tenth in the LOLMDS championship points standings are Dennis Erb Jr., Jared Landers, Eddie Carrier Jr., Billy Moyer Jr., and Jerry Lierly. Billy Moyer Jr. leads the JRi Shocks Rookie of the Year presented by Dunn-Benson Ford points standings. There have been fourteen (14) different winners on the LOLMDS in 2013, including seven of the top ten drivers in the LOLMDS points standings, registering at least one win on the series this year so far.
