FOREST, Ohio (September 21, 2020) – Matt Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports put together an impressive effort during their visit to Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri, on Thursday through Saturday, September 17-19, eventually capping the Jesse Hockett/Dan McMillin Memorial featuring the POWRi Lucas Oil WAR Wingless Sprints with a pair of top-ten finishes, highlighting all starts with a sixth-place rally during the Saturday night finale; Westfall started 13th.
Westfall, driver of the Ray Marshall-owned/Ray Marshall Motorsports/Buckeye Machine Fabricators, Inc./Hempy Water/DPI Ink/No. 33M sprint car, earned his way into the Hockett/McMillin main event by finishing second during his respective feature qualifier. The 2019 Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series (BOSS) champion kicked-off Hockett/McMillin Memorial weekend with sixth and 11th-place finishes during preliminary competition, enough to put Westfall ninth in the event standings leading into Saturday’s finale. Only the top-eight were locked into Saturday’s A-Main forcing Westfall to compete in the aforementioned qualifier.
“That was a lot of fun. I can’t say enough about this team. We were consistent all weekend,” Matt Westfall said, a two-time feature winner thus far in 2020. “I can’t thank Ray Marshall enough for the opportunity to drive his cars. There were a lot of great teams at Lucas Oil Speedway, but we were fast right out of the gate. I owe that all to this team’s work effort and Ray’s passion for sprint car racing.”
“I’m proud of Matt (Westfall) and this entire team,” Ray Marshall added. “It has been a fun and successful season. We’re not done yet, so I’m sure more success is ahead.”
Matt Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports will unveil plans for the coming weekend within the next few days. An event that is for certain, the Forest, Ohio-based race team will join the BOSS Series at Moler Raceway Park on Friday, October 9.
