FREMONT, Ohio (June 21, 2021) – The “Texas Traveler” T.J. Michael had his share of bad luck and down moments during the 2021 edition of Ohio Sprint Speedweek featuring the All Star Circuit of Champions, but despite the frustration and the lack of Lady Luck, the Plano, Texas-native showed periods of promise during the most grueling week in racing, opening the eight-race/nine-day campaign with a top-ten at Attica Raceway Park on Friday, June 11.

Michael, driver of the Michael Motorsports, Advanced Architectural Stone, Crown Battery, Fremont Fence Company, Pro-Tech Services, Wood Heating and Air Conditioning, Kistler Racing Engines, Elite Wings, Big D’s Pizza, Viva Los Healthy, M&L Graphics, HP Striping and Seal Coating, No. 8M sprint car, finished eighth to seal his All Star top-ten, advancing two spots after starting on the outside of row five. In fact, Michael battled as high as fifth and challenged for fourth during the Speedweek opener, but a broken nose wing deterred any further progress.

Unfortunately, Michael was unable to qualify for main event action at Fremont Speedway, Wayne County Speedway, and Sharon Speedway, with a crash during qualifying at Waynesfield Raceway Park forcing Michael to miss the remainder of Ohio Sprint Speedweek.

“We kicked things off with a bang at Attica, but unfortunately, we weren’t able to maintain that momentum through the rest of Speedweek. It’s just the way it goes sometimes,” Michael said, a full-time competitor with the All Star Circuit of Champions in 2021, as well as a two-time FAST Series winner. “Something broke on the car to cause us to crash during time trials at Waynesfield. That was the straw that broke the camel’s back for us. We needed to take a few days and get things regrouped; reset our minds and race cars.”

And a break is what Michael will receive, as the All Star Circuit of Champions will not resume competition until Friday, July 9, at Stateline Speedway in Busti, New York. The trip to the Empire State will be flanked by a Sharon Speedway doubleheader on Saturday and Sunday, July 10-11. Michael will enter the July schedule with a pair of All Star top-tens to his credit, the first accomplished during action at the Dirt Oval at Route 66 on May 15.
