PITTSBURGH, PA — Punxsutawney Phil predicted an early Spring but it seems as though Mother Nature has vetoed that idea as two March snowstorms along with unseasonably cooler temperatures have forced Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway to postpone the Test and Tune scheduled for Saturday, March 30th. The practice session will now be held on Saturday, April 6th.

“Monday’s snowstorm put the ‘nail in the coffin’ for this week’s Test and Tune as there is just too much moisture to allow the track crew to get any work done,” stated Speedway owner Matt Miley. “We also need several days of warmer weather and wind to allow the track surface and the speedway grounds to dry out; right now everything is just a wet, muddy mess.”

The 2013 season at “Dirt’s Monster Half Mile” will now get underway with a Test and Tune Session will be held on Saturday, April 6th. The session is open to all divisions and will be held from 2:00PM to 5:00PM. Pit and Grandstand Admission Gates will open at 1:00PM. Grandstand Admission is Free with Pit Admission priced at $25.00.

The 2013 racing action will get underway just one week later on Saturday, April 13th. The 2013 Blastoff event featuring the Diehl of Robinson Super Late Models, Precise Racing Products RUSH Pro-Late Models, Sunoco Race Fuels Late Model Sportsman, Miley BP Carwash Hobby Stocks and the Imperial Heights Garage Young Guns will find the gates opening at noon with the racing scheduled to begin promptly at 2:00PM. It is hoped that the earlier starting time will be more ‘fan friendly’ and give spectators the opportunity to enjoy the April racing action with more comfortable temperatures.

The staff and management of Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway would also like to take this opportunity to wish all of our drivers, race teams and fans a Happy Easter holiday.
