Ned Gleason Memorial Highlights McKean County Raceway Action this Thursday, August 1

East Smethport, PA (July 30, 2013) The NDRL’s McKean County Raceway will honor former car owner Ned Gleason on Thursday, August 1 as the NDRL’s ULMS Late Models will compete for $3,000 in the ‘Ned Gleason Memorial’. Another ‘Incredible Weekly Show’ is also on the slate as MCR heads into their first August under new National Dirt Racing League management.

Ripley, NY’s Mike Knight continues to lead the ULMS championship point standings while Bear Lake’s Boom Briggs has worked his way past Bristolville, OH’s Russ King for second in the season standings. Matt Urban of North East, PA sits third ahead of Dave Hess Jr. of Waterford, PA and two time 2013 ULMS winner Ron Davies of Warren, PA. Local favorites Brent Rhebergen, Jason Dupont, and the white hot Robbie Blair, who went undefeated in the month of July winning eight feature events and racking up 13 wins in his last 17 total starts, will look to keep the ULMS contingent out of victory lane.

Smethport’s own Steve Dixon will look to extend his point lead over Ron Davies who competes in both super late model and e-mod divisions. Teammates Vic Vena and Randy Hall will bring their ‘A’ game with hopes of closing the gap on Dixon and Davies as the season winds down.

Another dominant Blair, Max Blair will go after his seventh weekly RUSH Crate Late Model win while Adam Sixt, Ed Carley, Chad Ruhlman, and Zack Carley will attempt to knock Max off the victory lane pedestal.

Adam Ashcroft of Arcade, NY and his seven wins in the Close Racing Supply Street Stocks division hold a huge 58 point lead over Brad Ullman. Andy Michael, Joe Chamberlain, and Gary Fisher round out the top five in the season long point standings and will aim to gain points on the point leaders.

Lantz Corners, PA’s Joe Boylan leads the mini-stock class into this week’s action ahead of Mitch Boylan, Eric Canfield, Larry Mitchell Jr. and Kurt Babcock while Mark Carlson holds a five point lead over Joe Layfield in the freshly added pure stock division.

The action all starts Thursday, August 1 at 7:30pm with pit gates opening at 4:30pm and grandstand gates opening at 5:00pm. Grandstand admission is now just $12 ($10 senior citizen) and pit passes are now only $25, children 12 and under are free.
