Nodak Speedway Hosts Gerdau’s Magic City Showdown on Sunday, Aug. 18
Inside Line Promotions – MINOT, N.D. (Aug. 8, 2013) – When World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series drivers talk about Nodak Speedway, they speak almost as much about the community as the facility.
The premier sprint car series and its stars head to the popular community for the Magic City Showdown, which is the final leg of the Gerdau Northern Tour with Sleep Inn & Suites, Magic City Implement and Minot Tourism, on Sunday, Aug. 18.
“It’s a great town,” Paul McMahan said. “It’s a great fairgrounds you go to. The fans and the community really support the race track whenever we come up there. It’s always a good event.”
This year’s visit marks the seventh trip to the top-notch facility in the last eight seasons, giving fans in North Dakota an annual dose of side-by-side, wheel-to-wheel action around the 3/8-mile track.
“It’s a neat town to go to and gets a lot of support from the community,” Daryn Pittman said.
The hometown favorite, Donny Schatz, earned his first World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series victory at Nodak Speedway last year during an emotional event. It propelled him to his fifth championship as he became the first driver to win at Nodak Speedway and claim the title in the same season.
Terry McCarl garnered the inaugural event in 2006 with Pittman winning the ensuing season and Jason Meyers in 2008, when he placed second in the championship standings. Danny Lasoski picked up the victory in 2009 before Joey Saldana and Craig Dollansky each won in 2010.

Also, spectators can upgrade any ticket to a pit pass for only $10 on race day.
