Patriot Sprints and NDRL Northeast Late Model Series at McKean County Raceway
E. Smethport, PA (May 20, 2014) Racing action at the NDRL McKean County Raceway is about to get interesting this Saturday night. With 117 cars gracing the pit area the last event, and with the ultra-fast sprint cars and the NDRL Northeast Late Model Series coming to the E. Smethport oval this weekend, race fans can expect to see a jammed packed pit area of over 140 expected race cars. This Saturday night, MCR will be giving away Buffalo Bison tickets. Children who are on hand in their high school, little league, pee wee baseball uniforms will receive free admission along with a chance to win those Bison tickets. All US Military presenting valid ID will receive $2 off general admission price as well. A complete program will be in action for the other five divisions and an early start time of 6:30pm is slated for Saturday.
Chuck Hebring of Ontario NY will lead the Patriot Sprint Tour group into MCR for the first of two slated visits this year. Hebring is coming off a PST win two weekends ago at Woodhull Raceway. A full field of the 360 cubic inch motored horsepower, 1200lb methanol fire breathing winged warriors is expected with Little Valley, New York’s, Jared Zimbardi to be on hand after coming off a 410 sprint win last weekend to be at MCR along with Belfast, NY driver, Stevie Collins in his #67 sprinter. The sprints are a rare in the region and the ultra-smooth and fast 3/8 mile oval at MCR should present smashing record speeds Saturday night.
The NDRL Northeast Late Model Series will make their first visit to MCR also on Saturday night for a $3000 to win event. Race fans will be treated with the outsiders of Keith Barbara and Jared Miley of South Park, Pennsylvania making the trip to MCR. They will be joined by Billy Dickson of West Decatur, PA, Justin Kann of Hesston, PA, “Big Brother”, Dan Stone of Thompson, PA along with NDRL national touring drivers, “The Empire Executioner” Tim Fuller of Watertown, NY and NDRL Kings of Dirt Rookie of Year driver and 2013 MCR crate late model champion, Max Blair of Titusville. They will be joined by the MCR faithful of Ripley, New York’s, Mike Knight, Greg Oakes of Franklinville, David “Slowride” Scott of Garland, PA, Dick Barton of Ashville, last week’s winner, Chris Hackett of Jamestown, defending track champion, Rob Blair and race fans will see the return of the “Captain” Jason Dupont in his brand new dirt late model. Late Model teams will have hot lap qualifying to set their qualifying heat lineups approximately 630pm.
A full program of RUSH Crate Late Models will also be part of this big night. Chad Ruhlman of Bemis Point currently is the point leader with his two wins. Randy Hall currently is the Close Racing Supply Modified point leader also with two early season wins. The Highway Auto Sales Stock Cars have seen three different winners so far in the early season with Kurt Stebbins of Wellsville the early season point leader over opening night winner, Dennis Asel of Kane. Joe Layfield the 2013 pure stock champion currently holds the point lead in the pure stock division with his two early season wins and Mitch Boylan is also a multi winner in the mini stock division.
Race fans are reminded that everything is moved up a half hour this week due to the sprints. Pit gates open at 4PM, with grandstand gates opening at 4:30pm. Sprint car motor warm ups will be approximately 6:20pm with NDRL Northeast Late Model Series hot lap qualifying or sprint hot laps start at 6:30pm followed by the qualifying heats. Ticket prices are $20 for adults $18 for Sr citizen, youth 11-17 are $14 with the family pack (2 adults 2 youth) $65, children 10 and under are free. Reminder all children in full baseball uniforms will be admitted free and have a chance to win Buffalo Bison tickets and all US Military will receive $2 off with Valid Military ID. Pit passes are $30 this Saturday night at the NDRL McKean County Raceway, the “premier” racing facility in McKean County!
