Event features 33-lap, $5K to win sprint main and 21-lap, $2.1K late model main with NO ADMISSION INCREASE

Port Royal – Port Royal Speedway will present a night of racing in tribute to the most identifiable and iconic name in the history of the oval when it hosts Keith Kauffman Farewell Tribute Night on Saturday, August 17 at 7 pm, featuring extra-distance, high-dollar sprint car and late model feature events.

The night is in tribute to Kauffman who is currently racing his farewell tour, set to retire after a storied career at the end of the 2013 season.

No one in the history of motorized racing at the track since it began in 1938 has achieved the type of numbers that Kauffman has, racking up an unprecedented 129 Port sprint wins along with 13 track crowns.

Thanks to sponsorship in Kauffman’s name, the night’s racing will include a 33-lap feature for the 410 sprints paying $5,000 to win and $333 just to take the green flag.

The late models will race in a 21-lap main paying $2,100 to win and $210 to start.

Both feature distances are meant to honor Kauffman.

Probably Kauffman’s best-remembered mount from his days of campaigning regularly at Port Royal is his No. K33, thus the sprint car distance while he also campaigned a late model to a pair of wins at Port Royal in the early 1980s numbered 21.

Both races will carry increased purses and time trials will set the starting heat and feature race lineups.

An enduro dash will end the night of action.

Admission prices will NOT BE INCREASED for the farewell tribute event all in an effort to allow as many fans from past and present who want to see the “Man From Mifflintown,” Keith Kauffman, race just one more time before he hangs up his helmet.

Adult general admission tickets will remain at JUST $15 for the special event while students ages 12 – 18 will be admitted as usual for JUST $5.
