FOREST, Ohio (May 20, 2019) – With their initial plan to visit Limaland Motorsports Park on Friday before making the tow to Lawrenceburg Speedway on Saturday eventually getting the boot from Mother Nature, Forest, Ohio’s Ray Marshall Motorsports and hired gun Matt Westfall decided to hit the road and venture further west, setting aim on Gas City Speedway in Gas City, Indiana. The decision to travel to the Hoosier State one day early worked out in their favor, eventually earning a podium finish against a stout contingent of 30 non-wing sprint cars.

In fact, utilizing the pole position, Westfall led the first 16 laps before surrendering the top spot to eventual winner, Thomas Meseraull. Clinton Boyles, the defending Gas City Speedway track champion, also slipped by Westfall on lap 19.

After their third place run at Gas City Speedway on Friday, Westfall, pilot of the Ray Marshall Motorsports/Buckeye Machine Fabricators, Inc./Crazy Lady Restaurant and Bar/Hempy Water/DPI Ink/No. 33M sprint car, made the tow south to Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg, Ind., for another round of Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series (BOSS) competition on Saturday, May 18.

Unfortunately for Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports, their attempt to earn a second BOSS victory in 2019 ended with just one lap in the books, as Westfall was caught up in an on-track incident that he was unable to avoid. The car was damaged beyond immediate repair.

“We are already in the process of putting a car back together,” Ray Marshall explained, who is seeking a BOSS Series championship in 2019 with driver, Matt Westfall. “Those things are going to happen. Unfortunately, it happened to us this weekend. It’s easy to get caught up in messes like that, but the important thing is, Matt was able to walk away unharmed. We’ll try again next weekend, we hope.”

Tentatively, the plan is to return to competition during Memorial Day weekend, although the destination has yet to be determined. If the car is not ready for the upcoming weekend, Matt Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports will have to wait and make their non-wing return during BOSS Series action at Oakshade Raceway on Saturday, June 1.
