ST. HELENA, Calif. (September 12, 2022) – Continuing his extended stay on the east coast, St. Helena, California’s Rico Abreu joined the All Star Circuit of Champions for what was the richest event in Port Royal Speedway history during the recent weekend, battling head-to-head with some of the best in the business for a chance at a $60,000 payday. Known formally as the Tuscarora 50, the three-race, three-day blockbuster featured three complete programs kicking off with preliminary action on Friday and Saturday, September 8-9. Abreu capped his visit to the “Speed Palace” with not only a top-ten during said preliminary action, but also a 13th-place finish in the 50-lap finale – bettering most of the 55 competitors entered for action.

As mentioned, Abreu, driver of the Rico Abreu/Curb Agajanian Racing/Rowdy Energy/Curb Records/Abreu Vineyards/Wiser Agency/No. 24 sprint car, kicked-off his Tuscarora 50 effort with a top-ten performance in Thursday’s $8,000-to-win preliminary, hard charging his way from 18th on the grid to finish eighth. The progress was good enough to secure the evening’s Hard Charger Award for advancing the most feature positions.

Although settling for 13th in the weekend-ending 50-lapper, Abreu’s potential was much greater and ultimately cut short. During the first 20-lap segment, Abreu’s left rear shock dislodge from the car. Although the team was able to make sufficient repairs during the 10-minute open red at halfway, the damage was already done.

Other recent highlights for Rico Abreu and Rico Abreu/Curb Agajanian Racing include finishing third in Sharon Speedway’s Lou Blaney Memorial on Saturday, September 3, also featuring the All Star Circuit of Champions. Abreu battled hard and heavy with eventual winner, Cap Henry, for the race lead, but Henry held strong.

“Not a bad stretch of races for this Rowdy Energy team. Just hats off to my guys. They believe in me and believe in what we are trying to do. I wouldn’t be in this position without them,” Rico Abreu said, a three-time winner in 2022 including a Hard Knox victory during the annual Knoxville Nationals. “Racing in Pennsylvania is like nowhere else in the country. We love spending time there.”
