2022 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Championship Standings: Fifth | 7,438 points [208 points behind championship leader, Brad Sweet]
BROWNSBURG, Ind. (September 12, 2022) – One can never count out ten-time World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion, Donny Schatz, and that was certainly the case yet again on Saturday night, September 10, at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, California, where the Fargo, North Dakota, native persevered for a top-ten finish in the $25,000-to-win Gold Cup Race of Champions main event.
Schatz, driver of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing, Advance Auto Parts, Carquest, Ford Motor Company, Ford Performance, Curb Records, Sage Fruit, Digital Ally, Absolute Automation and Security, Hunt Brothers Pizza, Elliott’s Custom Trailers and Carts, No. 15 sprint car, finished ninth in Silver Dollar’s premier event, fighting his way through the field from 21st after winning the evening’s B-Main. A fifth-place finish during heat race action forced Schatz to compete in the 12-lap B; he started third.
The ten-time champ and former Gold Cup champ kicked-off his Gold Cup Race of Champions effort with an 11th-place finish in Friday’s preliminary round. A runner-up result during heat race competition secured his place in the preliminary main event.

Donny Schatz and Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing will continue their 2022 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series campaign with the Tom Tarlton Classic at Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, California, on Friday, September 16. The event will award a $21,000 payday.
