(Pulaski, PA)…The 2013 racing season at Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex is set togo green Saturday, April 13. Roaring Knob is one of the seven weekly-sanctioned Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC RUSH Dirt Late Model-sanctioned speedways. The Saturday night scenic facility will feature weekly racing through October 19. Roaring Knob is located in Markleysburg, Pa. just off historic Route 40 not far from where the Pennsylvania, Maryland, and West Virginia borders come together.

“We were proud to be one the first speedways to join the RUSH program at not only Roaring Knob, but my sister track, The Rock – Allegany County Speedway,” stated owner/promoter Rick Jones.  “It was a no brainer for me as I know how hard Vicki (Emig) and Mike (Leone) work for the speedways and Crate Late Model racing in the region. The guys down here are really behind RUSH and looking forward to getting the season underway!”

Roaring Knob is one of the relative new tracks in Pennsylvania as it opened its gates for the first time in 1998. Over the years, Roaring Knob has contested events for most every division in the region, while holding steadfast to its headlining Super Late Models. The Crate Late Models were added in 2009 when Ron Brutt was at the helm of the speedway.

Current owner/promoter Rick Jones took over “The Knob” in 2010. Today, Roaring Knob continues to be one to the top Super Late Model tracks in Pennsylvania. This season, Roaring Knob will again host the nationally-known Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series as well as regional groups like the Three State Flyers and the Appalachian Speedweek. Roaring Knob has also become prominent in the Crate Late Model world with strong weekly car counts and big touring events under the RUSH Dirt Late Model Series banner.

Roaring Knob has five Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC Touring events on tap for 2013 all paying a minimum of $2,000 to-win beginning with the Series opener on Friday, April 19. The “Battle Down the National Pike” will also include a $2,500 to-win event the next night at Hagerstown (MD) Speedway and there will be $1,200 in travel money on the line.

The second $2,000 to win Tour show will be part of the three-race “Mid-Atlantic Trifecta” on Saturday, June 22 sandwiched between Hagerstown on Friday and “The Rock” – Allegany County Speedway on Sunday. One of the region’s biggest events will come to Roaring Knob on Monday, September 2 for the NDRL “Kings of Dirt” $20,000 to-win Super Late Model event along with a $2,000 to-win Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC Tour event!

The fall season continues with two more big Tour events as RUSH will be part of the “Big Kahuna” September 27-28 in a $2,000 to-win event, then wraps up the year with the “Northern States Classic” RUSH National Championship Event. Details are being finalized for this huge event that will also include a non-winners event.

Roaring Knob has a strong crop of talent that includes many veteran racers in addition to several young, up and coming standouts. Defending track champion Nolan Dalton along with John Over, Louie Krushansky, Troy Shields, Mike Lewis, and Rick Singleton are some of the older, more-experienced veterans that will face stiff challenges from youngsters like Ryan Montgomery, Russell Baird, Ben Policz, and “Futures Cup” racers Michael Lake and Dylan Lewis.

With the addition of “The Rock” – Allegany County Speedway coming on board for Sunday action, several Steel-Block Late Model racers have made the move like D.J. Troutman that also expects to be in action throughout the season at Roaring Knob. Also the additional events at Hagerstown have really stirred interest to the East and some of these racers may make periodic visits to Roaring Knob in 2013.

Roaring Knob’s weekly RUSH member racers will be able to take part in all of the Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC RUSH Late Model programs. It’s quite possible that one Roaring Knob regular racer could win $8,000 in point money excluding any Touring or “Futures Cup” point funds!

Drivers will be able to accumulate their best 15 finishes (two per week) throughout the season as part of the $25,000+ Sweeney “Weekly Series Championship” that will pay $5,000 to-win down 30 positions.

Come July, the top 10 Sweeney RUSH Weekly members in Roaring Knob points under the RUSH system will move on to the $10,000+ Pace Performance “Summer Chase”.  Drivers can race as many times as they want from July through Labor Day at not only Roaring Knob, but any RUSH-sanctioned event.  Drivers’ average points (minimum eight events) will determine the $3,000 champion that will pay down 10 positions.

Any RUSH member under the age of 18 will also be eligible for the $3,000 “Futures Cup” program.  Those 18 and 19 cannot have more than one full season of competition in Crate Late Models or any other higher division.  These racers can compete at Roaring Knob and at any other RUSH-sanctioned event to accumulate points.  Drivers’ Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC “Weekly Series” points will be added to three stand-alone “Futures Cup” events that will be announced.

“It was a great statement by Rick Jones when both of his speedways- Roaring Knob and The Rock aligned with us as part of our RUSH announcement press release,” expressed Vicki Emig.  “We’ve become great friends over the years and really enjoy working with him on not only RUSH events, but other promotions and events. Roaring Knob is such a beautiful facility and we always look forward to our Touring events there. Rick has stepped up to host four big events in addition to John Kennedy’s NDRL “King of Dirt” event on Labor Day!”

Along with Roaring Knob’s High Gear Speed Shop RUSH Late Models, the speedway will also campaign the Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic Super Late Models, E-Mods, the Penn Summit Insurance Agency Street Stocks, Fort Necessity Garage Chargers, Newt’s York Bar Roadrunners FWD 4-Cylinders on a weekly basis.

In addition to the Lucas Oil, Three State Flyers, and RUSH events, one event fans and racers are really looking forward to is the first ever “410” Sprint Car race at “The Knob” on Sunday, May 5. The “Showdown in the Laurel Highlands” will pay $4,000 to-win! A quality field of Sprints is expected from central and western Pennsylvania as well as West Virginia, Ohio, and even New Jersey.

And finally, another new motorsports event coming to Roaring Knob will be on Saturday, May 25 when Full Pull Productions holds the first ever USA-East Truck & Tractor Pulling Event! For more information on that event, check out www.fullpullproductions.
