Schatz Charges to Thrilling Oil City Cup Victory at Castrol Raceway
Champ earns 17th World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series win of the season
EDMONTON, Alberta – Aug. 24, 2013 – After a hard crash in hot laps to start the final night of the Oil City Cup on Saturday at Castrol Raceway, Donny Schatz was forced into a backup car. Even that couldn’t slow down the hottest driver on the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series tour as Schatz edged Brad Sweet in a thriller for his 17th victory of the season, and continued a streak of 14 consecutive top-three finishes.
Kerry Madsen, who was looking to sweep the weekend, led the most laps but settled for a third-place finish with Joey Saldana and championship points leader Daryn Pittman rounding out the top five.
