2021 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Championship Standings: Fourth | 9458 points (204 points behind championship leader, Brad Sweet)

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (October 4, 2021) – Donny Schatz may have missed the top of the podium, but the ten-time World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion was certainly in the conversation, concluding the two-day Williams Grove Speedway National Open with a pair of top-ten finishes, highlighting the weekend blockbuster with a third-place score during the National Open preliminary on Friday, October 1.

In fact, Schatz’ preliminary effort was nearly flawless, kicking off the evening second-fastest time during his respective group of qualifying time trials, all before earning a victory during heat race competition. A fourth-place finish during the evening’s dash set the stage for Schatz’ eventual podium outcome.

The following evening, Schatz, driver of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Carquest Auto Parts/Curb Records/Ford Performance/Sage Fruit/Digital Ally/Advance Auto Parts/Rush Truck Centers/Absolute Automation and Security/Hunt Brothers Pizza/J&J Auto Racing/No. 15 sprint car, finished sixth in the $75,000-to-win National Open finale, bumping ahead one spot after starting from the inside of row four.

Similar to Friday, Schatz kicked-off the National Open finale program with a top-tier qualifying effort, fifth in his respective group, eventually winning his respective heat race.

“The guys are always digging and working hard to find ways to get better,” Schatz said during Friday’s preliminary interview. “It feels good to be on the podium, but we’re working for wins. We won’t be satisfied until we’re on top of the podium.”

Donny Schatz and Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing will continue their 2021 campaign with a two-day World of Outlaws outing at the Port Royal Speedway “Speed Palace” on Friday and Saturday, October 8-9. Dubbed the Nittany Showdown, the two-day blockbuster will award $10,000 and $15,000, respectively, as well as conclude all World of Outlaws competition in the Keystone State for the 2021 season.

Schatz finished seventh and 11th during the 2020 Nittany Showdown.
