FOREST, Ohio (September 27, 2021) – Facing off against a loaded roster comprised of 43 USAC National Sprint Car Series entries, Matt Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports knew what they had to do to earn their place in Eldora Speedway’s 4-Crown Nationals main event, and capitalize is what they did, ultimately qualifying through their respective heat race before ending the evening with hard fought charge to the top ten.

Westfall, driver of Ray Marshall’s Ray Marshall Motorsports/Buckeye Machine Fabricators, Inc./Hempy Water/DPI Ink/Bumblebee Express/No. 33M, kicked off his evening at The Big E by recording the sixth fastest time during the second flight of qualifying time trials. Although only the top four in each heat race were locked into Saturday’s 4-Crown headliner, Westfall was undeterred and transferred, finishing third in the fourth heat race before lining up 15th on the A-Main starting grid.

When the dust finally settled, Westfall found himself six spots higher in the running order, concluding the 30-lap USAC contest ninth after starting 15th. Westfall concentrated on the middle and bottom grooves of Eldora’s surface to make progress, chasing former USAC national champion, Brady Bacon, for much of the distance.

“We’ve had the 4-Crown circled on our calendar since the beginning of the year. It’s one of the most competitive races on our schedule, but we were ready for it,” Westfall said, a two-time non-wing sprint winner in 2021 including a BOSS Series triumph at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway on July 24. “Ray Marshall gives us everything we need to be competitive and that clearly shows.”

An upcoming schedule for Matt Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports has not yet been determined. Any information pertaining to the team’s agenda will be posted as soon as it becomes available.
