2021 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Championship Standings: Fourth | 8346 points (230 points behind championship leader, Brad Sweet)

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (September 7, 2021) – Although unable to rack up additional marks in his ever-growing win column, ten-time World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion, Donny Schatz, put together a consistent weekend in his return to the Pacific Northwest, cashing in for four consecutive top-ten appearances and finishing no worse than seventh. Schatz’ stretch through Washington included the three-day Sage Fruit Skagit Nationals on September 3-5, followed by a one night stop at Grays Harbor Raceway on Monday, September 6.

Schatz, driver of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Carquest Auto Parts/Curb Records/Ford Performance/Sage Fruit/Digital Ally/Advance Auto Parts/Rush Truck Centers/Absolute Automation and Security/Hunt Brothers Pizza/J&J Auto Racing/No. 15 sprint car, finished fourth, second, and seventh, respectively, during his three day visit to Skagit Speedway, eventually capping his Labor Day weekend with a fourth-place performance at Grays Harbor.

Nearly accomplishing victory number 303 with the Greatest Show On Dirt, Schatz’ runner-up result during night two of the Sage Fruit Skagit Nationals was the product of patience and perseverance, actually fading to fourth before quickly switching his focus to the bottom of the speedway. The Fargo, North Dakota-native was able to use the bottom groove to sneak through traffic and ultimately reclaim multiple positions before finishing second. Impressive enough, Schatz was second across the board on Saturday night, earning runner-up results during heat race and dash races, as well.

“That was a high-speed chess match,” Schatz said. “The car feels solid right now. My guys are always working hard to improve.”

After a two-year hiatus, the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series will finally compete in sunny California, blasting off officially on Friday evening, September 10. The two-week Outlaws swing through the Golden State will begin with the Gold Cup Race of Champions at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, California. Schatz is a former two-time champion of the prestigious west coast program, winning his most recent in 2015.
