Silver Anniversary Season
Evening Blastoff
On Tap At PPMS

PITTSBURGH, PA — Evening racing action “under the lights” returns this Saturday, May 4th, as Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway presents the Silver Anniversary Season Evening Blastoff Event featuring the Diehl of Robinson Super Late Models, Precise Racing Products RUSH Pro-Late Models, Sunoco Race Fuels Late Model Sportsman, Miley BP Carwash Hobby Stocks and Imperial Heights Garage Young Guns.

“We chose the earlier starting time in April so that the race teams and fans could avoid the cooler evening temperatures that are prevalent in the Spring,” commented speedway owner Matt Miley. “Since we only lost one show to the weather it appears to have worked. In addition, based on this week’s long range forecast it looks like Saturday evening’s temperatures are going to be comfortable for everyone so we are excited to kick off the evening racing action.”

Michael Norris became the first repeat winner in the Diehl of Robinson Super Late Models as he led last Saturday’s main event for the entire distance. Norris was among the most improved drivers at the Monster Half Mile in 2012 and he has indicated he will be a regular competitor in 2013. Tony Musolino scored a fine second place finish and the Scott Township driver is definitely one of the favorite’s to score a victory at PPMS in 2013. In addition to Musolino, veterans Lynn Geisler, Steve Baker and Ben Miley looked very strong in last week’s feature event.

Mike Pegher, Jr. had a perfect day last Saturday as he set the fast time, scored a win in preliminary action and also claimed the $1,200.00 Pro-Late Spring Sizzler 25 victory and the third generation driver will be looking to make it two in a row this weekend. Other Pro-Late competitors who expected to challenge Pegher, Jr., include two time feature winner Kyle Lukon, defending divisional champion Colton Flinner, Mike Reft and Justin Lamb.

Late Model Sportsman action has found three different faces in Victory Lane now that Jake “The Snake” Simmons has “retired” from the division. Nick Kocuba scored the win on opening day and Brian Huchko and Jeff Bronszewski have claimed the other two victories thus far in 2013. Last week’s main event saw Bronszewski battle Bill Robertson, Gary Koteles and Wayne Carbo side by side for most of the 15 lap main event. Will a fourth new winner prevail Saturday evening?

Mike Pegher, Jr. scored the win in the Spring Sizzler 25. He is joined in Victory Lane by Austin Graul and Team Mascot Cali.
The Hobby Stocks and Young Guns will round out the evening’s racing card.
