PITTSBURGH, PA — Get ready for some “Topless Action”; topless Late Model Sportsman racing action that is as Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway presents the third installment of the Sunoco Race Fuels Late Model Sportsman Showdown Series on Saturday, July 20th. The Diehl of Robinson Super Late Models, Precise Racing Products RUSH Pro Late Models, Miley BP Carwash Hobby Stocks and the Imperial Heights Young Guns will also be in action this Saturday evening. In addition, the off track activities will include the Third Annual Berks Hot Dogs/Nickles Bakery Hot Dog Eating Contest.


The Late Model Sportsman Showdown Series continues this Saturday with a new twist as the competitors will be removing their roofs and competing “Topless.” “The Sportsman Showdown Series has provided the Late Model Sportsman competitors in the tri-state area with the opportunity to compete in several higher paying events and we thank them for their support. We also believe that this series gives our fans the opportunity to see some of the region’s top Sportsman teams without having to travel a great distance to do so,” stated speedway owner Matt Miley.

Berks

Rusty Martz and Jeff Broniszewski have been victorious in the two Showdown events held this far and are expected to be in action this Saturday as well. Other divisional winners this season include Nick Kocuba, current points leader Brian Huchko, Bill Robertson and Vince Laboon, who scored his career first Sportsman win on July 6th; all are expected to vie for this week’s $700 first place prize money. The division will also welcome teenage Christian Schneider to Sportsman action as the Robinson Twp. hotshoe has indicated he will move up from the Hobby Stock Division this Saturday to battle the Sportsman veterans this week.

The Sportsman competitors will use group qualifying to determine their heat race lineups.

Nickles

Berks Hot Dogs and Nickles Bakery will also present the Third Annual PPMS Hot Dog Eating Contest at intermission. If you are a hot dog eating machine then be sure to register at the speedway office on Saturday so you can be included in the action as prizes will be awarded!! Berks and Nickles are also sponsoring the $1.00 Dog Night that will feature hot dogs on sale for just one dollar in both the pit and grandstand concession areas.

The Pit and Grandstand Admission Gates for this this week’s racing action open at 5:00PM with qualifying for the Late Model Sportsman competitors beginning at approximately 6:30PM with the first green flag waving promptly at 7:00PM.

Adult Grandstand Admission is $15.00. Seniors, Ages 60 and Over, are admitted for $14.00 with Juniors, Ages 13 to 16, priced at $10.00. Admission for Children aged Six through 12 is $5.00 and Children Under Age Six will be admitted Free. In addition, all children aged Six through 12 will receive a free gift when they present their admission ticket at the PPMS Gift Shop, which now features Apparel by Denise.

Pit Admission for this week’s event is $35.00.

Don’t forget that in addition to the juicy Berks hot dogs the Checkered Flag Food Court has a great variety of amusement park munchies like monster chicken wings, grilled chicken sandwiches and cotton candy at “fan friendly prices.” In addition, Ed’s Pub features a large selection of beer and mixed drinks at affordable prices.

If Mother Nature fails to cooperate on Saturday PPMS management may utilize the Sunday raindate. Gates will open at 4:00PM and Racing will begin at 6:00PM if the Sunday raindate is utilized.
