Super Sprints & Late Models at SSP This Sunday at 7:00 p.m.
Next Wednesday Test & Tune on May 22

Newberrytown, PA  – On Sunday night, May 12, the 410 Super Sprint Cars return to SSP with the Late Models in a Mother’s Day Sprint Car Special. It will also be the 59th Anniversary of the speedway’s opening day in May of 1954. The original opening day was Sunday, May 16 but the event was postponed due to rain with the opener eventually being run on Sunday, May 23 with Buzzy Wilson taking the win in Stock Cars. Since 1954, there have been more than 1,000 races held at the Newberrytown Oval in York County.

The Super Sprint Car feature will pay $3,500-to-win for the 25-lap feature event. Non-qualifiers for the A-Main feature will receive a complimentary non-transferrable entry fee ($50.00 value) for the Final Showdown to be held at SSP in November. For the Super Sprint Cars, mufflers WILL NOT be required and Hoosier Brand Spec Tires will be required on all four corners (same as the 2013 rules at Williams Grove, Lincoln and Port Royal Speedways). All other rules will follow the generally accepted rules for Sprint Cars at local weekly Central PA Sprint Car tracks (1400 pounds weight rule). Raceivers will be mandatory for all Sprint Cars.

The Late Models will also be on the card. Drivers already picking up feature wins this season are Gene Knaub, Chase Billet, Randy Christine Jr. and Randy Stoudt. This will be a tune-up race for the Steel Block Bandits Invasion on Saturday night, May 18.

On Sunday, the start time has been changed from the originally posted earlier in the season. The pit gates will open at 4:30 p.m. Grandstand gates will open at 5:00 p.m. Track Prep laps begin at 6:30 p.m. with qualifying races at 7:00 p.m. followed by consolation races and feature events.

General Admission Grandstand ticket prices for Sunday night are Adults (ages 18-59) $18.00; Young Adults (ages 11-17) & Senior Adults (60 & Older) $15.00; Children (10 & under) are free. Pit pass prices are $25.00 with a reduced price of $22.00 for all pit competitor license holders. The minimum age requirement to purchase a pit pass is 12 years of age with a copy of a birth certificate is required for all ages 12 to 14. Ticket Stubs from the Sunday, April 14 or Saturday April 27 may be used for Sunday, May 12 for the Repeat Fan Discount.

2013 SSP Race Schedule

The Next Wednesday Night Test & Tune is on May 22
The next Wednesday Night Test & Tune session will be held on Wednesday, May 22 at the Susquehanna Speedway Park. It is open to any type of racecars capable of competing on the 4/10 mile oval. The cost is $12.00 per person for pit passes and a $20.00 fee for each racecar entering the pit area ($32.00 per car & driver combination). Gates will open at 5:00 p.m. with open track time from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. by class. Each session will be 6 – 8 laps per session. The grandstands are open free to the public. Each class will receive 4 to 5 rounds of 6/8 laps each or more if time permits. The fuel pumps from Miller’s Racing Parts will not be open. Anyone needing fuel should contact Miller’s Racing Parts directly at 717-766-0181. The main concession stand will be open throughout the night. Due to the completion of only half the Wednesday Night Test & Tune on April 24, all pit passes and car entries from the April 24 Test & Tune may be used for half credit ($6.00 towards pit passes and $10 towards car entry) for any Test & Tune session through October 23, 2013. Pit passes from April 24 must be presented for credit.
